Tried to get in yesterday evening (after success the past three days) but the chat button no longer comes up. Message at the bottom of the browser says Volano Chat cannot be found. I've tried this on two different computers and both IE and Netscape browsers. Anybody else having similar problems?

yeah,Brian. I sure am. Just can't get it no matter what I do. I can see Matts picture and his blurb, but thats it. I feel like I've been shut out, and I love the idea. But I don't know what to do anymore. HooBoy blames AOL, but I'm not sure I understand that thinking.

RE: chat

That's all I get, too, torjon. I just assumed it was some kind of 'java' thing. I'm on webtv so AOL can't get the blame here. :-(

RE: chat

At least I'm not the only one!

You know, there are some escorts that appear frequently in this site...and one can get kind of fond of them totally apart from any booking business.Their sense of humour, intelligence, helpfulness, etc. Matt(a fellow Canadian!) is one such for me, and to have missed out on his CHAT really spoiled my Wednesday evening.

I'll have to find a way to resolve this problem, because I can see this room becoming the main focus of M4M shutting out a lot of us who enjoy visiting here. (Can't ask any of my family or friends to help, for pretty obvious reasons.)

Anyway, Matt, sorry I missed you. Guess I'm just going to have to start saving up for a trip to the West Coast and "chat" with you in person!!!

RE: chat

Torjon - an anyone else who had a problem getting the chat icon to show: Email me with the following:

1. Type of computer you have and how old is it?

2. If you know the processor let me know that

3. Operating system (Windows 98? Mac 8, Atari?)

4. Browser: Native AOL? Netscape? Internet Explorer. Also, include which version you are using? Go to Help in the menu of your browser, select ABOUT and you'll see the version if you don't know.

5. Have you been able to see the Volcano/Chat Icon before or now?

That might help me figure out why you missed out on an outstanding conversation with Matt.

Actually, if you want to post the info here, you may. Some geeks may see it and give you a better answer than I could. I''m just a gek. I haven't earned my other "e". :-)

Thanks.

RE: chat

From WEB TV instructions:

AOL chat rooms are only available to AOL

subscribers. However, you can chat with AOL users and other non web tv users.

visit talk city's web site, located at

http://www.talkcity.com/chat/.

The computer user may need to download additional software, but that software and all

necessary instructioNs are available on talk city's site.

once they are ready to chat, agree to meet your

computer using friend in a specific chat room.

ALSO, A WEB TV USER MIGHT NEED THE SERVER ADDRESS AND PORT NUMBER.

RE: chat

I'm a WebTV fan, but it's not a computer and is unable to take advantage of the features of a computer - like JAVA, which is required to use the chat server we use.

The folks at TalkCity.com do not like our kind of people. They monitor the chats and they'd kick us out faster than a drunk guy grabbing ass at a titty bar!

My advice, keep your WebTV and enjoy it's features, but pick up a refurbished computer at http://www.dell.com.

The Chat is working today. I was able to access the chat room at beginning of week, but the chat button would not appear either Tues, Wed or Thurs.

I wonder if the problem was traffic or problems at the host website? Anyhow, the chat button appeared this morning on the chat page and was working. No one was in the chatroom however!!

The Chat software is on the GaylifeLive.com server. It's a WebCam site and even though we are not, they are kind enough to allow us to eat up their bandwidth.

If you have a problem getting in, it's not because of something going wrong here for a change. :-)

I'm sorry you had difficulty getting in.

At their site, they have a an entry for WebTV users to the chat area, but we are not listed. It makes sense - we are not a cam site. However, you might write Greg, the owner and ask him if he'd list us.
