The Southwest. Weather in late March should be very nice. Lots of activities available both indoors and outside. Probably help if the forum members had a better idea of your interests.

Rent a car and make a loop that includes LA, San Diego and Vegas.

LA has Hollywood, Universal Studios, Disneyland (you’re never too old).

SDiego has an amazing zoo, Seaworld, tours of Scripps Institute.

Vegas has… well Vegas. But there are lots of things to do besides visit casinos.

There are wineries and beaches in SoCal.

Don’t overextend yourself by trying to visit too many places during a one week visit. The distances involved can be deceiving.

I agree with many responses. In DC, you may be able to catch the cherry blossom trees. Otherwise, Palm Springs, Key West, or southern Arizona or New Mexico. I did do some skiing ⛷ at Alyeska Resort near Anchorage last March. Where else can you ski at sea level? And I was lucky to see the northern lights. It was really cold, though, like -15C.

And if you're going to Los Angeles, it may be worth your while to visit

  • The Getty Center - free admission, no reservation needed and parking is $15
  • The Getty Villa - free admission, reservation required and parking is $15
  • Go downtown and visit the Grand Park and have lunch at the Grand Central Market. While you're there, might as well visit MOCA and the Broad Museum. I haven't been to the latter, but if you like contemporary (or is it modern) art, then you should go.
  • Visit the Huntington Library in Pasadena. Both the library and the gardens are worth it. The Gutenberg Bible alone...

Decisions decisions. Currently leaning toward Savannah or st Augustine. Wine country sounds awesome, but I suspect a bit pricey. DC cherry blossoms, sites have appeal, but maybe more hustle and bustle than the traveler wants. Wait........the traveler works in DCo_O
