In 2005, Silo found another partner, a female called Scrappy, which had been brought from SeaWorld Orlando in 2002. Roy joined a group of unattached male penguins. As of 2012, Roy and Silo are both thought to still be alive at around 25 years old, with the Central Park Zoo's website stating that penguins in captivity can live up to 30 years."

 

I knew that there are homosexual animals but sadly I was unaware that there were homophobic ones.

Maybe the gay couple was behind on rent and got evicted.

 

It's as good an explanation as homophobia.

Roy is obviously gay. Silo, on the other hand, might be bi. He might also have been questioning and found his answer. Also, Scrappy could be a lesbian who paid Silo to father her child.

 

You just never know.

It is not really that strange. Humans are animals and we all diverged from a common ancestor millions or even billions of years ago.
