Wow amazingly ignorant and obnoxious. I don't see in law degree in your past. Probably not even a high school diploma. Federal tax returns are available to any other federal agency, especially by court order in a criminal case, and of course you're arrested if you admit income from an illegal activity. It's a signed confession. The law that says you have to declare income from even illegal businesses is a catch 22 trap. If you're arrested for a crime and have not paid tax on it's proceeds they can also charge you with that so they have double charges. That is the sole purpose of that law. People who are arrested declare and pay so they won't get double charges.

Scarey that there are actually people in this world who think you declare and pay tax on illegal activities.

Had you bothered reading the article you cited, you'd see that it reiterates my point and refutes yours. But there I go being ignorant and obnoxious again.

What you fail to realise is that this doesn’t happen to independent escorts. It only happens to big players who operate on a distribution level, earning income off OTHER PEOPLE’s prostitution labor. It’s very common for sex workers to pay taxes. Vice squad busts are political stunts meant to reassure the public that the government is “fighting trafficking”. They generally have no interest in prosecuting independent sex workers who operate quietly and pay taxes. In fact, NOT paying taxes is what gets people busted much more often than paying taxes... and this is common industry knowledge amongst seasoned professionals. None of us who have our shit together well enough to file taxes would sit with investigators and admit to earning it from doing anything illegal either. Maybe you assume escorts are stupid, but I assure you that (any more than the population average) we are not.

Some of the guys I liked the most have done well. Most stopped escorting after a few years. What they all had in common were university degrees. One is with a top sportswear company, one is a partner in a boutique CPA firm and the other got an MBA at one of the top schools and is in tech. Others blew everything and are struggling. A few got on retainers, but their patrons are the types that are always looking for a new trophy boy, sadly.

After marinating in this thread for a long while, I have decided there is a NEED out there, a need to help all those Retired escorts.... So in my philanthropic effort to "give back", I will be opening

"GRANDMA'S Home for Wayward Retired Escorts".......It will be an All inclusive, "hand's on, Clothing OPTIONAL facility, where I will provide comfort and security to those who have served us in the past !

It will include tongue (sponge) baths and forced feeding.... Only soft foods will be served, unless you are able to "take it HARD" ? It will be designed to allow them to live out the remainder of their lives in luxury and comfort.

While it was meant as a comical comment, of course it's true. You get a mug shot for almost any crime, including some traffic stuff. Rentmen has what 2000 US ads tops? There are escorts there but also massuerfinder and many other sites plus bar escorts, etc. I'm sure the number from Rentmen and all the other sites plus other escorts who have had mug shots is a higher number than 2000.

O am.going by your own words. You daid that the number of The national data base on arrests in the United States show that the

I have a number of tax clients who have alternative income streams. My practice covers clients ranging from factory workers to medication suppliers, ballet dancers to pole dancers, ex pats to undocumented workers. I've pretty much seen it all.

When medical marijuana laws were passed in my State I did a ton of research on tax strategies. While the IRS was a bit thin on guidance at the time, early days of the medical marijuana movement, I've never seen an instance of the IRS sharing information with other agencies.

OTOH, I have seen plenty of desperate people who are in trouble for not filing taxes and/or declaring income. They want to buy a house, apply for a green card, renew visas, are facing tax inquiries, audits, employee challenges. You name it, I've likely dealt with it.

My advice? File your taxes properly. If you don't know how, find a good tax professional. If you're in a line of work that falls into an alternative category I recommend working with someone who takes a more conservative stance on tax treatments of income and expenses.

My 2 cents. No charge. :)

It is my belief that the IRS shares information with the Social Security Administration to determine what premiums are charged Medicare recipients. Single tax filers with modified adjusted gross incomes (MAGI) over $85,000 ($170,000, married filing jointly) incur higher Medicare premiums than people with income under the aforementioned MAGI levels.

I’m pretty sure I received literature in the mail notifying me that the SSA checks with the IRS to determine MAGI levels and determines Medicare premiums based on the amounts provided by the IRS.

Please correct me if I’m wrong.

"The IRS may share information with SSA about social security and Medicare tax liability if necessary to establish the taxpayer’s liability. This provision does not allow the IRS to disclose your tax information to SSA for any other reason. SSA employees who receive this information are bound by the same confidentiality rules as IRS employees. Therefore, they generally cannot disclose the information to a state social security administrator (SSSA), state officials or other Federal agencies."

I was replying to @amused1 and his blanket statement saying he had never seen an instance of the IRS sharing information with any other government agency. The fact of the matter is two federal government agencies DID share information about me, i. e., my modified adjusted gross income amount. I’m not disputing what you’re saying @Kevin Slater. I’m only stating that there are instances when information is shared between the IRS and other agencies.
