I actually walked from my hotel(Lennox, Buenos Aires), to the Recoletta today- and on the way, I attempted to stop off and see the Holocaust museum. However, it simply wasn’t there- I searched a block over in each direction from where iPhone maps had it...perhaps it’s closed?

Was truly intrigued to see a foreign country’s view on the Holocaust...especially one that had so many Nazi transplants.

Tomorrow am taking the high speed ferry across to Uruguay- @latbear4blk - if you get this message in time..any recommendations there? I’d just as soon ask in private message; but in all honesty the entire community benefits from your great responses, so I might as well ask open..

I am flattered.

I guess you are crossing to Colonia del Sacramento. You must visit the old city, with the ruins of the old military fort. I have been there about 20 years ago, so I am confident the place is very changed, it was a trendy, raising touristic destination back in my time. A quite, small village turning into town. I would just walk around enjoying the colonial architecture still left.

In Uuguay, you must try one of the best sandwiches in the Milky Way: el chivito. Order it with a fried egg instead of hard eggs.

About the Holocaust Museum, that is all after I left, so I do not have an update. Maybe a warning, so you do not get disappointed when you find it.

In Argentina the word "Holocaust" has two meanings. The conventional one, referred to the Nazi crimes, is one of them. Do not expect much surprises, it is the same talking points everywhere. In Argentina we have the second jew community in the diaspora after NYC, and we were victims of two terrorist attacks in 1992 y 1994 against the Israely embassy and a Jew cultural center, respectively. So I would expect a lot of pictures and references to those two tragedies besides the well known imagery from the Nazi Germany.

The second meaning refers to the genocide committed by the last military dictatorship in the second half of the 70s (the famous "desaparecidos"). If the museum you are looking for refers to our local holocaust, you may find it the most interesting. The atrocities committed by the military and their allies in the Catholic Church and the right wing parties are astonishing. And they are just a sample of what was going on throughout Latin America under the sponsorship of the CIA and the Pentagon. For any American should be an impressive learning experience.

I am afraid there is a good chance the museum you are looking for is related to the Argentine Holocaust. After Macri took over all the progressive policies and programs related to Human Rights (that is how we call Civil Rights) sponsored by the Kirtchner administrations. It is possible that a Museum of the Holocaust dedicated to remember the crimes of the Argentine Right was defunded and closed.

But I am just guessing. This whole post is a bunch of guesses.

You made me curious. I did a quick research and found out we are talking of the conventional holocaust. You probably went to the old address, apparently they just changed their location to

José Hernández 1750, CABA.

I swear, I’m usually good with maps....! And I knew a building of that size wouldn’t be empty unless there was a reason...thanks for the update!

When I was there in 1991, I asked the driver to take me to La Escuela Mecanica de la Armada, which was a notorious concentration point during the three-term junta. The navy was particularly involved in the disappearances of thousands of “subversives”. The taxi driver was nervous, so I just snapped a few pics and we drove back to Recoleta.

I recall that the navy used to fly prisoners in helicopters over the bay and throw them out. Pretty brutal times.

Airplanes, not helicopters. Too many drugged prisoners to drop.

When I have spoken to my cousins in Argentina they have reminded me of the U.S.'s continuous involvement in Operation Condor which left so many Argentinians dead. They had a lingering resentment against the U.S. because of the technical support and military aid it supplied to the Argentine government (the U.S. did the same to other South American military dictatorships).

Just wanted to put out some quick notes for Forum members / Escorts alike, in case their travels take them here. @latbear4blk is problably a better resource then me, but here’s my two cents so far:

Cost(Gearing this for most US people, not international): Obviously, it’s a long flight- so expect to be in the 800-1400 range, just for the flight, unless you find a steal. However, your mileage on hotels and meals is going to go a lot further for the dollar- completely offsetting the cost of that flight, in my opinion.

Getting to / from the airport: If you take a taxi, expect to be 40+ range; however, there is a minibus service called Manuel Tienda Leon that runs every 30 mins or less for 12 USD, takes you near the Sheraton Hotel near the North docks. From here, it’s literally a block and a half to the subway system that connects the entire city, and cheap. Entrance to the subway is 7.50 ARG, or approximately 45 cents. Ride that bitch all you want for that- go clear across town. It’s VERY effective, clean and safe.

Weather: Not sure about other times of the year, but it’s been 85-92 and completely clear, ALL this week for me. INTENSE UV- 10+, but with a perfect breeze to offset the heat.

Attractions: Museums and Attractions are generally VERY cheap to get into, and there’s tons of them. Watch out, streets become somewhat empty and have a more dangerous feel after 9PM. It’s like people turn into pumpkins- steel shutters come down and vibrant streets close up.

Daytime- this is a GORGEOUS city with parks everywhere, and CLEAN.

Nightlife- The Gay disco ‘Amerika’ is the place to be, if looking for that sort of hookup- very energetic.

The People- Arguably some of the most attractive men and women I’ve seen as a cross-section of a populace, anywhere in this world. What a vivid combination of hair and eye colors...most everyone is in shape, and TALL. Body types are very attractive.

Now the downside:

If you’re an ESCORT, unless you speak Spanish fluently....communication here is difficult. And these types of clients want communication(as would I, to be fair...), before they book sessions. They’re very aggressive, Alpha, and want to break you down price wise. However, most have gone out of their way to stress that they’re not into anal play of any kind- surprising. Expect counter offers for your services for more ‘vanilla’ play only.

If you’re a CLIENT....as @Epigonos informed me, www.soytuyo.com is where you want to go to find guys. They’re stunning, they’re cheap- but you may have some difficulty bringing them into a hotel. Hotels tend to flag what appears to be locals going in, so you may have the awkwardness of explaining who they are. For me, I had an ideal situation- a restaurant in the hotel I stayed in....that was already past the front desk...and near the elevators...so the clients could sneak up. Same thing would work for escorts. I think the larger the hotel or an AIRBNB will be easier to make this work, vs. a boutique hotel.

A city I truly have enjoyed for vacation purposes, but not one that I’d encourage most American-born escorts to take a stab at, if they’re intending to actually turn a profit.

Tristan is correct. I got a "massage" for about $40 US.

The percentage of hot hot guys on that soytuyo.com is VERY high, I need to plan a trip to BA!

I've experienced the "portenos"-- natives of Buenos Aires during my five trips to Buenos Aires. My last trip was in 2011.

The city is beautiful; the food and lodging highly reasonable, and the escorts, during those days, were far reasonable in their fee than in other places. I had my guides get me escorts from the various sites since I can't speak or write Espanol. In spite of the latter, it worked, and I still have some memorable adventures.

During my first two trips, I stayed in hotels but chose to have apartment experiences during my latter two. ...made my reservations via a gay agency. ...would site its name but can't remember, but I do know that their rates were reasonable, and the three apartments were beautiful and well appointed as greatly located. Recoleta is my barrio of choice, for it's so well-located.

I'd recommend first timers to stay in hotels; it would be easier for them to adapt.

If you plan to go-- send me a pvt., for I am always eager to share the information which I used prior to my first and subsequent trips.

I always suggest folks visiting Buenos Aires to take the ferry buquebus to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay. I guess @tristanbaldwin you won't go back unless invited as you pointed is hard to make a profit, but yinz escorts are lucky because even if yinz only break even you get free holidays.
