I hired twice in Budapest. Once simply from Escupido.com, but the second time, I was staying at the Marriott, near Petofi ter square or park, and I walked there for a couple of hours, just looking out for escorts who might be showing the goods, as it used to be a well known area for this.

I found only 2, the first one had a good body but bad teeth and I said "maybe later".

The second one was cute and thin, but he had a papa-san which discussed the transaction with me in English. I was a bit annoyed that there was a third party involved but the boy wanted to be clear and didn't speak any of the languages that I speak. So I just walked him to my hotel right next to the park and I had a great time.

That was in 2012, not sure if this park still entertains this trade.

I had a not so pleasant experience there in 2001, but the city itself is really beautiful. The Pest side was compared to Paris early in the 20th century, but the city was almost destroyed in 1945 and had to be rebuilt. There were still bullet holes in the old buildings on Andrassy Utca from WW2 and the 1956 Revolution.

I was there in July. Apart from the obvious amazing sights in the city, i was surprised at how prevelant the English language was there, and just how much of a party town it was - it seemed the whole city was out on the Saturday night - and SO many tourists. Just walking around the city centre you can hear all the various accents of English - Scottish, Irish , American, New Zealanders, Australians.

What was the not so pleasant experience? (If you don’t mind me asking)

We met the wrong kind of “Romanians” and my travel companions were threatened by them. I was up all night and left on the first flight back to Prague. There were some sinister elements around in those days.

Oh dear. Yeah I was reading on some older travel forums about the various forms of extortion that used to go on there - some it it directly targeting tourists, where cafes and small bars would get tourists there, keep bringing them food and drink, and then present the tourists with a gigantic bill, and then have the heavies on hand to stand over you to accompany you to the ATM to withdraw the exorbitant amount. I was reading further that in recent years, the city authorities have been aggressively pursuing and closing down these business ones these practices are reported, so it’s far less common these days.

I’ve been to Prague and may either end the trip there or in Warsaw. Not sure I want to visit there at the end of August, however, given the throngs of tourists. I do want to see Krakow and L’vov, though, after spending some time in Kiev. Ukraine built a high-speed rail system that connect Kiev with Kharkiv, Odessa and L’vov, then on to Poland.

Has anyone been to Kiev? The Ukrainian guys look gorgeous.
