Price Of Viagra

Big Pharma is getting ridiculous. I just priced 6 branded Viagra 100 mg pills using GoodRx. The least expensive price was $389. That’s $64.83 a pill. I know I didn’t play that back around 2005. I never would have been able to afford it. I think they were around $20 a pill then.

Is this massive price increase recent since the generic came out? What market are they going for? I doubt an insurance company, unless they have a deal with Pfizer, is going to cover Viagra -assuming they cover ED drugs at all-when the generic is about $18 a pill.

Because of this same cost issue, my Doctor told me to go to Bigmountaindrugs.com. Canadian

They got me generic viagra for $2.50 per pill. It’s turned out to work better for me than the real thing.

That’s a good price. If you don’t mind taking multiple tablets, the generic 20 mg tablet can probably be obtained for about the same price using GoodRx. I can get it for about .59 cents a tablet, so taking 5 costs me about $2.95. There’s the inconvenience of taking 5 tablets, but the convenience of being able to pick it up at a nearby pharmacy

But thanks for the info on Big Mountain.

I had posted this previously. I've used this and it is just fine.

My urologist office sent me this information and I've just ordered from them. They give this info to all

their patients for expensive drugs, not just for ED. They are convinced that this is a safe and legitimate site for ordering drugs. Originating in the UK and coming thru Canada the prices are amazing. 16 100 mg viagra (generic Sildenafil Citrate) $56.99 USD

What inconvenience ? You put em in your mouth and swallow with water. They are tiny, so what's the big deal if cost is an issue ?

Do you need a prescription, because in NYC doctors DO NOT write paper prescriptions any longer. They email to your pharmacy... So who orders for you ?

Luckily (or unluckily) I have an illness that could conceivably cause erection problems so I ask for him to write a prescription. I think I pay the same as I pay for other meds that I get. I could probably get by without them but get worried that I will need them. Sort of like sleeping pills. However, if I know I might be doing poppers I won't even consider taking the prescription.

I’m sure you can get a paper prescription if you ask for it. There are always reasons-for example you might be going out of town on a trip-and need one in case you run out.

I've asked and was refused, That's why I made the comment. However, there are websites where you can get the stuff without prescription, most often overseas, but I have no experience with any of those sites.

Phizer, the maker of Viagra, offers 50 percent discount coupon codes on their website. Just sign up and provide the code to your pharmacy via text or email. The discount is good for one year.

The patent for Viagra is due to expire in a few years and generics will likely flood the market soon after.

I've order from them a few times and always been happy. When you order in bulk, they are less than $1/pill. Sometimes there are issues processing card payments since it's overseas. I think I used bitcoin for it last time and got an extra 30% off.

And looks like they throw in a bunch of FREE samples when you order. Over $80 gets Free shipping too, normally $29 - 39 additional....

I misread the title of this thread as Prince of Viagra, and was like "this could be a good story!"

While technically the patent doesn’t expire until 2020, Teva has come to an agreement with Pfizer and is selling a generic. But Teva’s generic is still expensive. At this point, getting generic Revatio is still much, much cheaper. I can get the equivalent of 6-100 mg doses for about $19.

I think there is at least one lie on that website. I don’t think the drugs can be FDA approved if they aren’t legal here in the USA.

One of the problems I have with these places is the problem of counterfeit drugs I saw a Dateline or similar program years ago where they found a shipment of totally fake Viagra. They looked exactly like the real thing. The only way you could tell the difference was on chemical analysis.

It’s been mentioned here ad nauseuam but I’ve used

AllDayChemist with good results in the past. Practically

free compared to the cost of brand name ED drugs here.

Also, a physician who says he “can’t” write you a paper prescription,

and can only file them electronically....is most likely lazy and lying.

Just ask....”well, what would you do if the computers went down....

or if I needed to get the prescription filled out of state?” The

answer is simple...he’d reach in his desk and pull out his old

paper prescription pad and use it.

Everyone has to have back up paper plan in place....just in case.

Those MD's who are using electronic medical records programs find it easier to just electronic ironically send the Rx BUT, not only can they pull out their Rx pads but the computer can print out the Rx and the MD can just sign it.

There is a new law that went into effect in NY State in 2016. Except in a few cases doctors will be fined if they write paper prescriptions in NY State. One of the exceptions is having the medication filled at an out of state pharmacy. The NY system is not very flexible though. If, for example the Pharmacy is out of the drug, a new prescription has to be sent. I’m not sure if that would be the case at a Pharmacy with multiple branches like Duane Reade. That’s why @jjkrkwood was having trouble getting a paper prescription.

This is from a NY Times article

Doctors can still write prescriptions by hand in exceptional cases, such as when the medication will be filled out of state, when there are technical problems and when the prescription is for something other than a medicine, like crutches or a wheelchair.

Doctors who fail to follow the mandate “will be subject to a full range of disciplinary actions, including both civil and criminal penalties and fines,” according to the State Health Department.

It seems like a pointless bureaucratic imposition. I can see that the state wants to capture a record of prescription for auditing of individual and collective health care, and for statistical purposes. I don't have a regular pharmacist, and I suspect I'm not alone. Luckily doctors here can issue paper scripts (and all do) but they are printed from the doctors' computers not hand written. Surely the reasons for the NY regulations would be satisfied if doctors gave their patients a printed script that their pharmacist could use to access the computer version? (My cynical side suspects that there is no data basing or collective use of the data, rather they have mandated a point to point electronic dissemination method that has more in common with pigeon post than a modern digital system.)

From what I can tell, everyone has the same software. I’m assuming they are keeping data from it. But who knows. I wonder if there are any N.Y. professional people on the Forum who can speak to this.

Today we were quoted $500 for 6 brand name Viagra tablets at Walgreens. Who can afford that?

That's absurd. I just looked on GoodRx and generic sildenafil is 30 100mg tablets are $14.89 at Costco, or $15-25 at local grocery store pharmacies.
