My mother visited Scotland where her parents were born. Six of her seven older siblings when back and forth to Scotland by ship with my grandparents. So the film clip really touched me.

My mom's parents immigrated to Brooklyn from Scotland in the early 1900's. Ironically, they settled in a part of Brooklyn that was settled by my dad's Dutch family in the 1650's (when it was a small town called Bushwick).

It is ironic. The Italians and the Irish had intense struggles and often just hated each other but they always ended up falling in love. Never failed. A very interesting and complex history. A lot had to do with the Catholic Church.
