If you're a fan you can't have helped noticing all the recent press regarding Didion's latest book. I can't say enough good things about it. It's crushing, even devastating...and often funny.

 

It's called The Year Of Magical Thinking and it details the year after her husband JG Dunne died during which her daughter fell in and out of comas (eventually dying around the same time the book went to press.) It's Joan Didion at her chrome-prose best.

I heard her interviewed on NPR,and she read an excerpt of how everyday occurences are 100%changed with the loss of a beloved partner.I sobbed.There is no way I could get through this book.
