I see not much has changed when it comes to the screaming meanies.

Those that still have entry, jump on here and scream a total fiction, (hoping it will pass for fact) and then rip on anyone who calls them on it by using their tried and true hypocrisy bulls_it.

Those that can't get in here anymore reportedly go to their site on the dark side and spout their version of THE TRUTH.

Well, it's nice to see that there is a constancy of sorts in the world.

Why I expected better, I am not sure, but there it is.

Men who would appear to be bright and capable seem incapable of being bright, and realizing that any fool can tell a lie and swear to it. The back halls are rife with rumors about their activities in trying to undermine the stewardship of this site. Some of what is reported makes my skin crawl and shows a definite lack of self control or any respect for Hooboy and his family. The lengths they have gone to to try and destroy this site have only served to prove my point. But that doesn't stop their dogged pursuits. No indeed. Why settle for truth, when fiction is so much more suitable to stirring up your constituency? Shouting hypocrite helps hide the true baseless reality of their accusation. A power tool for demagogues at every political level. Like asking the biased question, Do you still beat your wife? There is no answer for an accusation like that because it is used not to expose the truth but to give credibility to the lie.

WOW, I feel so much better. Thanks for asking.

Hope they enjoy this piece of chum thrown in the water.

Anyone want odds on how long it takes for them to bite?

Uh, pizza anyone?

Since I'm relatively new to the MC, I can't say I fully understand this post. Forgive me for using this opportunity to try my new html knowledge.

"I see not much has changed when it comes to the screaming meanies."

I've lived long enough to know that most people don't change. If you were mean at 30, chances are you're going to be meaner at 50.

Some Gay men have good reason to be mean. Many have been rejected, unloved, closeted, are completely dysfunctional, and just plain odd. How can you expect every gay man to endure such pain and overcome so many odds and develop into a happy, stable, conscientious gentleman with terrific social skills? (Thank goodness for hope and a few great escorts.)

"Those that still have entry, jump on here and scream a total fiction, (hoping it will pass for fact) and then rip on anyone who calls them on it by using their tried and true hypocrisy bulls_it."

Hypocrisy exists and most people are living in denial. All one can do in this situation is try to be true to thyself, learn a little humility, work on being honest at all times, and take one day at a time. (I know a few addicts.)

"Why I expected better, I am not sure, but there it is."

One does have to be careful with expectations. Disappointment lurks around every corner. I thank God everyday that I was born an optimist. I believe in love and believe in the power that love provides. There's wisdom in learning to let go.

"The back halls are rife with rumors about their activities in trying to undermine the stewardship of this site."

I don't know what this means but it sure sounds ominous. I know the MC was shut down for a while and I have a peripheral understanding of the reasons why.

In one of my emails to Daddy, I suggested a whole new forum design and a registration process that included a fee. Most trolls and meanies refuse to pay for anything meaningful.

Well, at least you like the English language. Writing is a good thing.

"Uh, pizza anyone?"

Good pizza is so hard to find in NYC. Anyone got any great suggestions?

Enjoy your Sunday evening, jackhammer.

It's great to have Jackhammer back at the MC as we need all of the good guys we can get. RockHard is off to an impressive start...I could only hope to write as well as he does.

But a New Yorker who doesn't have a favorite pizza place already? Mine was in Forest Hills but I can't remember the name. In LA, it is Escape From New York in Westwood!

Truth be told, good pizza is so readily available in NY it's not really necessary to have a favorite place. Most city blocks will have something acceptable. ;-)

Would JackHammer, or anyone else, please give a definition for "troll" and why it's OK to write demeaning things about them? My impression of the term may be way off base, but I thought it was an older gay man who was more or less ignored by the young'uns. What has that got to do with "them" not wanting to pay for anything? And why should trolls be excluded from this site??

Just Curious~~`

I think I can answer this one. I believe "troll" meaning an ugly and presumably unlovable older man started as teen lingo about 15 years ago and then spread into the general population. (It originally comes from the Norwegian word for a particularly nasty dwarf who dwells in Norse forests.) "Troll" meaning a person who deliberately makes insulting, ad hominem, or otherwise incendiary posts on an internet bulletin board - which is the meaning that I'm sure RockHard had in mind - originated on the internet at around the same time, but the two words are not otherwise related.

Nowhere in my post does the word "troll" appear. So I have no idea what Samai or anyone else means.

I saw the very entertaining definition of "troll" on Daddy's Place last week. I think some other forums could benefit by offering a link to it.

Internet trolls differ from gay older-man trolls. And both differ from those wonderful troll dolls some of us had as kids. I'm happy I don't have a sexual attraction to blonde, nubian gods under twenty. Now that I'm over forty, I'd hate to be referred to as a troll of any kind.

ps To all the guys who said kind things about my presence here, thank you. :-)

RE: My error

"Uh, RockHard, I am glad you have joined us and I really meant that welcome I posted, BUT, this is a line from your first reply to this thread , so I guess this is what the other guys were talking about:

Most trolls and meanies refuse to pay for anything"

My sincere apologies and thank you for pointing out this error. I read the damn thing twice and still managed to overlook that. Aging is no fun. (Cheap cop-out, I know.)

Yes, here I meant internet "forum" trolls. There are several other "free" forums I regularly utilize where internet trolls are a serious problem. One site, in particular, is very strict and will ban you the instance any troll-scent is sniffed.

However, the forums that charge a small registration fee have virtually no trolls. Free access attracts too many negative people hell-bent on making you as miserable as they are. I'm glad the internet gives lonely, angry people a voice. Everybody needs to vent so that's a good thing. I just don't always want to hear that voice day-in and day-out.

If a forum can't secure or attract quality volunteer moderators, the owner must then pay someone to moderate. The most successful "free" forums, IMO, have a diligent staff of moderators. Otherwise, it's very, very difficult to keep the forum filled with quality registrants.

Very few people have any patience or tolerance for seriously negative people.

Can I add a much belated welcome? You are the "wind beneath my wlngs"! I was roaming the dark forests without even one crumb to guide me to the light, but wtf, I looked up to the sky, and DAMN! the light to salvation was shining as brightly as a million stars and the light was you! :7

GOD! BRING the LIGHT unto my EYES!, as I SO need to see your savior coming to the HB MC in a futile effort to SAVE me! :9 :9 :9 :9

I LOVE YOU! Thank GOD, you have come under yet another handle, despite the many others you have used, but don't matter as long as you SAVE ME!, this time, PLEASE?? }(

I don't remember which message included this passage--the number I mean, but I think I copied this from one of Rockhammer's posts. If it is not from his message, I apologise; however, someone used it and I am now satisfied as to the meaning---I wasn't aware of the insulting and incendiary postings aspect of the term. Thanks to those who posted links and clarifications.

It was longer ago than that. When I first came out around 30 years ago, the term was in common use. I was young and freshed-face in a smaller city where anyone new who showed up in the bars was considered fresh meat. I was immediately told to watch out for certain trolls who frequented the place.
