I've never understood what prompts someone to get so emotionally invested in the personality disputes here that they actually make the choice to take time out of their lives to post for no reason other than to say "You tell 'em!" to someone they like who is insulting someone they don't like, but I can't help but admire the effort.

I realize it frustrates you that there is now a message board where some of the many people who dislike you can say whatever they please about you while you are totally powerless to do anything about it. The hilarious part of what Conway did is not that he threatened a lawsuit and then failed to commence it.

 

The hilarious part is that he pretended online to be a trial lawyer - writing multiple posts claiming that he had a history of winning jury verdicts, claiming he could represent you pro bono, etc. - only to then reveal in several posts his complete ignorance of the law - both substantive and procedural. He made statements which reflected fundamental confusion about the issues on which he was trying to opine that no first year law student (or even Law & Order watcher), let alone any lawyer, would ever make.

 

Or, to put it more simply, Conway wanted to make himself seem important and powerful by lying about what he does for a living. He came here, beat his chest, claimed to be a successful trial lawyer, and then revealed with his posts that he was simply lying.

 

It's one of the most intensely humiliating things I've seen someone do to themselves on the Internet. And the things he said about "defamation per se" which revealed that he was no lawyer were genuinely some of the funniest things I've ever read from someone trying to talk about the law (and that's saying a lot!).

 

It was a truly memorable, hilarious and pitiful event - watching someone come and be so lacking in self-esteem that they have to pretend to be a lawyer and then humiliate themselves by saying the most misinformed possible things about the law that can be said.

 

I know that, personally, I can never get angry about anything Conway writes, or think about anything else when I see his name, other than this incident. No matter what he says, he will always be the Person Who Lied About Being a Trial Lawyer and Then Hilariously Exposed Himself. So it's hardly a surprise that Woodlawn remembers it, too.

 

I can understand why both you and he want to forget it and bully people into avoiding a discussion of it. But that is quite unlikely to happen. I still get hearty belly laughs when I think about it, and that's likely to go on for awhile.

As I said (but you understandably ignored), the humiliating part for you is NOT that you threatened a lawsuit and then didn't go forward with it.

 

The humiliating part is that you claimed to be a successful trial lawyer only for you to then provide the indisputable proof - in the form of your own ignorance - that you were lying about this. It doesn't get much more humiliating than THAT.

Sorry. But, I don't see where I claim to be an attorney in that text.

 

You're obviously confusing the fact that I offered to pay the cost of Deej's counsel and that I know how to sell a jury with some misconstrued assumption on your part that I offered to represent Deej personally as his attorney. To the best of my knowledge, Deej lives in an entirely different state from me, half a country away. I would had to have been a member of the bar in Deej's home state (or some state where the slander took place) to represent him even if I was an attorney.

 

In addition to being an asshole, you've been a sucker for my subterfuge, proving that you're an asshole who's not very smart. If you were smart, which you're obviously not, you would have read my statements more closely, you would have determined that I work very closely with attorneys who take clients to trial. Making Defendants look like even more pompous assholes than they are and making Plaintiffs look like horribly harmed victims is a real gift.

 

I expect such an intellectual faux pax from Woodlawn because he's mentally ill and I'm sure that all of the voices in his head cloud the messages that his brain receives.
