This is a list of books about escorts and their clients, mostly all male but if a book about women Really Speaks to and about us we'll include it, too.

I know that before the crash, we had gotten more than the following list going, but they are all that I remember and I am such a computer novice that I am not sure how to go about what Hooboy suggested. Might be more fun to start again from scratch anyway.

- the gryphon trilogy by Merecedes Lackey (and if you don't know about it, her the last herald-mage trilogy is a fantastic gay love story, even though its not about us).

- Lady Slings the Booze by Spider Robinton

- Memoirs of a Geisha

- The Boys of Boisie

- Hustling: A Gentleman's Guide to the Fine Art of Homosexual Prostititution by John Preston. I think that this one is somewhat rare and much as I hate to say anything bad about the late, great Preston is not as complete as the next book. Nor as up to date, which is inevitable since the author is dead you might think. Anyway, it is a fun read and perhaps an easier book for beginners than:

- Our own leandream1's book, Hustlers, Escorts, Porn Stars by Matt Adams.Which refers to my own beloved city (which I still sometimes call Denver even after living here since '81) as "For its size this is the most under-served market in the United States" In fact, Cub and I (when we're in our dungeon mode) are the only SMBD niche escorts regularly advertising in the print media here. Sure, there is one other, but he comes and goes, usually only advertising for a couple of months around major holidays. And there is a rumor he has all of his clients gagged so that they won't make too much noise for the neighbors.

I'm sure that I have left some books out that we as a group on this thread have talked about. But you're posting them will serve to start the colloquy again.

Love, Blade

Offhand, I can think of "States of Desire" by Edmond White, "The Persian Boy" by Mary Renault (fictionalized memoirs of Alexander the Greats Boy toy), the historical works of Jonathan Ned Katz. More to come.

A Consumer's Guide to Male Hustlers

by Joseph Itiel

Joseph is the queen of aunties, and essentially likens the minds of escorts (no more than outrageously priced street hustlers) to those of children...drug addicted children. I do not think he could have been more patronizing if he had tried. Enjoy :-)

Don't forget: The Best of the Super Stars 2000, the Year in Sex. Edited by John Patrick and published by STARbooks Press. Review who is hot in tv, films and the porn industry. About half the book is direct experiences of male escorts, most from the porn industry. Though it is a bit repetitive at times, there are some wonderfully funny bits in it.
