The amazing thing about that story is that somebody paid $660K for shoes covered in red metal sequins. ;-)

 

Seeing them at the Smithsonian many years ago was a major letdown. In my mind's eye they were fabulously jewel-encrusted slippers. Instead they look like something a gaudy drag queen (or Phyllis Diller) would wear. :+

PHYLLIS DILLER! LOL! I always laugh loudly at the mention of her name. Her laugh always had me captivated growing up. She is one of this society's greatest .... things.

She's an interesting person. And an American classic.

 

Early in her career she was quite a striking beauty but her career was going absolutely nowhere. It was a time when pretty women were seen as just pretty women with no abilities.

Sadly, I adopted the laugh at times and it really annoys people. Out of her it's fun and campy. Out of me causes both fear and hatred and people want to club me. It think it is due to the fact I do it 10 times louder than necessary.

I was born a drama major. I am drama.

 

BUT, in high school, I was in:

 

1) drama

2) band

3) orchestra

4) multiple choirs

5) I was the only male to read morning announcements

and ..... ready to expose my geek heritage right here .....

 

LIBRARY CLUB!

 

I was in the library club from 7th to 12th grade!

 

And I think Library Club made me bitter. In my senior year I thought I was a shoe-in for the big dictionary prize. But our school was so big we had 5 ladies on Library Staff. I believe 2 or 3 of them were lesbians. My competitor was a gal who could have easily played for both teams. MY NEMESIS received the big dictionary because, I feel, the coven liked her better because she had a vagina. I never got the glory work anyway like binding the new magazines or checking people out. I was slave labor in th back room.

 

Well, talk about having NOTHING to do with this thread I have now exposed my deepest scar from high school. High school wasn't bad for me at all. I timed it when certain swim team members would be in the showers changing and I would always walk through the lockers at the right time. I had that SHIT timed so well that I would come in at the right time a lot! I think I would masturbate at least one gallon a week in high school.
