The July 18 issue of New York Magazine has an in-depth look at an escort named Natalia and an escort agency owner, Jason Itzler. Mr. Itzler is now in jail, in Riker's Island, not his first time through the correctional system. Natalia commanded as much as $2,000 an hour, with a 2 hour minimum. The way the business was run actually sounds fairly primitive (but what do I know about running an escort agency?), and, of course, totally dependent on Mr. Itzler's odd creative energies. A very interesting article.

 

In the course of it a straight escort rating site called TheEroticReview.com is prominently mentioned. It seems to operate on much the same principles as this site.

I finally got around to reading the article. Excellent read, thanks! So he's the guy that invented GFE (Girlfriend Experience - translated to Boyfriend Experience by our more creative guys)? Visionary concept, I'll offer to buy Jason a beer when he gets out. It does seem strange that before GFE, female escorts didn't kiss their clients nearly as often as the guys, though.

 

NYPD continues their relentless Disneyfication crusade, and they're really fucking the place up - if I want sterile, I'll go to Universal CityWalk TUVM. Of course he brought a lot of it on himself by getting all cocky, his full page ads for his NY Confidential website, his high-roller pimp lifestyle and I'm sure the major drugs didn't help matters. I did love this quote, though:

There seem to be elements in straight prostitution that draw more attention from law enforcement. Besides the greater amount of cash involved, there's a history of organized crime, forced labor and abuse of the girls, and so forth. I don't think (maybe I'm wrong) these kinds of things are a part of the male escort scene. I suppose the escort agencies do make money from setting up the clients with guys, but I would guess the business is not as big as female prostitution, and I doubt they have such control over the rentboys. And the individual men who advertise online to turn tricks are, I guess, totally self-employed. There seems to be less police interest in this kind of thing -- but I don't know, things can always change.

It interests me that the article prominently referenced a website similar to this. It seems likely to me that this site has a wider readership than many of us might imagine.
