1.5 million dollar for this? One more reason to check mental stability of cops, at the end we taxpayers suffer the consequences for that bully's behavior.

It appears that the bulk of the money will go to a trust, so that she can be cared for. Let's hope that those entrusted to her wellbeing will do the right thing. Looks like the officer will have a very short career in law enforcement.

After Attorney's fees, that $1 Million to the Special Needs Trust, which is a unique trust that will not allow the trustees to invade the trust for nefarious needs, only to provide for the care of the woman.

 

The State of California saves spending more money on lawyers after a 9 hour mediation at probably $1250/hour x 5, the need for a trial and the risk of the downtown LA jury pool awarding much much more.

 

The CHP officer, in question, has resigned. Which means he's still a certified law enforcement officer in California and can work for any other LEA in the state.
