Hey guys,

I've been Rusty Blue for at least a couple of years but have been considering a name change for quite some time now.

When I first entered the scene as Rusty, I was a younger, less experienced kid.

I feel a few years older now and have a name in mind that suits my personality and level of service more appropriately.

Has anyone done this before? Thoughts?

There are various ways to answer your query. One is to use an old famous proverb - "a rose by any other name is still a rose" (words slightly altered to fit the facts).

Second would be to ask an established entertainer (or any person who deals with the public) how his or her clients would react if a name change took place - for example, if one thinks of Liam Neeson (only an example) then suddenly he changed his name to something totally different, how would his decision be viewed by outsiders? What about the "goodwill" that was created and associated under the original name?

Personally, I think a name change often has negative attributes as though the original name had to be changed to hide a less than honest reputation.

If you study the names used by escorts advertising in rentboy.com or rentmen.com or most other escort sites, you will see name changes are quite common.

At the same time, I always wonder why a well established escort feels that he has to change his name.

Of course, there are other "nicer" ways to view a name change.

The irony here, of course, is that the word rusty tends to connote something a little more weathered. Ever try to swing on a rusty gate? :p

Your mileage may vary. One of the symptoms we frequently see of an escort running away from his reputation is a name change. Other guys get away with it because their good reputations follow along.

Your reputation will follow you either way. A name change won't change that, but if it makes you feel better and therefore you provide better service, go for it. You can always change it back if it doesn't work. We've seen that happen too.

may i suggest to keep updating / changing profile pictures! I tend to surf rentboy a lot, and i see that some escorts have the same pictures on there as when i first started to look some 4 years ago.

I did hire one guy that was well reviewed here, really liked his pics even if i had seen them for a couple of years, and when I met with him i realized he is at least 8-10 years older and had 25lbs ( still firm but... ) covering his abs. Not sure why the recent reviews covered this.

Anyway my point is that when i see a profile now with new pics I havent seen before then I tend to be more likely to hire that person. ( and yes, now i ask for new pics via text / email before hire )

Still learning the game here... =)

First, I don't mind the rose analogy. I'll taste just as sweet ;)

Second, I'd really hope my reputation would follow me should I change my name. Looking at my reviews and relationships with clients would suggest that I've consistently met and (for some) surpassed expectations. Granted, my reviews are few and I haven't had a new one in awhile. But, I'd attribute my sparse reviews to avoid seeming presumptuous when asking for new ones. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, I guess! Or is it the rusty hinge on the old weathered gate? :p Its likely I'm too careful when considering my client's discretion.

New pics forthcoming guys...

Still, lots to consider here. Avoiding red flags is always a good idea.

More feedback is of course welcome.
