TMZ reported that she had been moved to a private room

I have family in New Orleans hence why I have a number of Louisiana feeds. It popped up out of nowhere. I think I might have had the gay exclusive on this one.

Personally. I loved her and watched her final Fashion Police only a few days ago... We get it the day after you but I'd been busy last week.

Bless her. I loved her

Not so quick ... She's a tough lady ;)

According to New Orleans Magazine Facebook Page

"A source with ties to New Orleans & close to the Rivers family confirms to NOM the passing of fashion icon & queen of comedy Joan Rivers.

Rest in Peace, funny lady!"

https://www.facebook.com/NewOrleansMagazine

However the only official update today (September 3rd) from the family was:

An Update from Melissa Rivers

September 3, 2014 76 Comments

“My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support.”

"Moved to a private room" is not the same as "dead". (In fact, it's generally a sign of some improvement.)

Again, no major news organization is reporting this.

Facebook pages are generally as reliable as the scribbling on bathroom walls. Wait for the credible news agencies before we start the funeral procession.

There's also a news story flowing through the blogosphere that Betty White IS NOT dead. Apparently one of those satire blogs reported that she "dyed at home last night", a play on the fact that she isn't naturally blonde. Some didn't catch the grammar play.

New Orleans magazine isn't a two bit magazine however since I posted this and Steven copied their post, they've since withdrawn it. I did screen print it.

As for the private room as someone who has experienced that in the last year. In a private room you're not monitored 24/7 it's usually where family can go to spend their final hours.

Yeah, it kinda is. I don't get my news from "Los Angeles" magazine or "Chicago" magazine either. And certainly not from their Facebook pages.

however since I posted this and Steven copied their post, they've since withdrawn it. I did screen print it.

Imagine that.

I think Deej has this correct on the "private room". I doubt a hospital would take her out of ICU unless she had improved. It is kinda funny that you jumped to this conclusion.....For now, let's all hope she is indeed improving.

I'll stick my neck out here but maybe I'm right

Please don't start to slag me off if I caught something that was placed on a news page and then pulled

Twitter is already speculating. Not that many of you use it

Apparently she died earlier today

I'm certain it's correct

When you get someone dying they don't ask you to sit holding their hand in ICU. They then take the patient away from what help they have to a side room for the dignity of the patient and the relatives. If you've ever experienced an ICU room you'd understand.

Someone posted this on the NOLA Mag Facebook page:

"You posted a story about Joan Rivers having passed away according to a "source" which showed up in my newsfeed. No one else reported that story at this time and her family had not released any statements. Jeers for posting the story. Cheers for taking it down. As I said, being first to report isn't always the right thing to do. Let her family do the reporting of whatever the news is that they'd like to report. "Good" for you for taking it down."

After seeing this thread I immediately searched for an article via google and haven't found one. I really hope this isn't true I sympathize with the family I too just recently lost someone dear to me.

Steve- they might do this here in the USA although it's not a definite. People are taken of life support and do 'pass' in ICUs here. I could definitely see someone being taken to a private room to pass if they were rich- and or a celebrity to avoid the media.

If im wrong. I'll close my account and never post here again..

Whether you are right or wrong, I wouldn't close my account here unless, of course, you want to. I mean all you did was report a news story from a supposedly reputable source. If any of us had seen it, we might have posted it too.
