Once upon a time, the male model staring blankly at the camera lens be-spoked smoldering potential, assuming he was young.

Now that he is older, it looks to me unemotional and a bit suspicious.

Same guy, too! (Jeff Aquilon)

Interesting, huh?

Is he suspicious of you, or are you suspicious of him?

What I see in the photos:

Younger: Pouty, petulant

Older: Slightly irritated, skeptical or suspicious of the viewer i.e. "You got a problem?" but not as hostile as "What the f**k you lookin' at?" Or maybe "You expect me to believe that BS?"

I don't get it. You have two pix of a guy, and he isn't smiling in either. So what? This bespeaks a trend of some sort?

I can't speak for friendofsheila, but I can say that non-smiling models are the norm, at least in fashion photography, no matter whether they're male or female. I think the question here is whether the failure to smile is more acceptable or aesthetically pleasing in a younger model than in an older one.

I agree with nate_sf's evaluation of the photos, but disagree with those who think the model looks more attractive now. Then again, my general preferences when it comes to looks (and that's all they are, general preferences) are decidedly toward the more androgynous end of the spectrum compared to most of rest of you. I find this amusing considering I'm female and am therefore supposed to seek masculinity in men. In my experience, the most vocal contingent of gay men prefer a level of muscularity and hypermasculinity (whatever that term means to you) that I don't.

I think he is a handsome guy in both pictures. I don't agree at least for this model and that picture (the younger one) that he looks smoldering. He just looks bored to me.

Now if you want to talk 'smoldering' ;)
