From time to time I have prowled adam4adam and asked guys which fit my interest (masc, gl, early 20's, fit), if they might be interested in generous guys. I have had some success even in my small southern metro area. I was with a 25 year old really nice and cute guy today who was just my type, was laid off from construction and could use some $. My question is about payment. how much should I offer?... Up to now, after determining sort of carefully that we are a match, I have offered a rate which I have been charged by some professionals - $200. I asked for 90 minutes. I notice in other threads that guys are offering $40, $60 and under $100 for non-professional encounters. I enjoy the non-pros probably as much or more than the guys I have met off escort websites. What do you think? I mean I want to be fair, and somewhat generous, but not over the top.

I enjoy the non-pros on adam4adam as well. Most of the young guys on a4a are offended if you say you can be generous$$$, even if you bring it up tactfully. But the large number of rejections make up for the occasional diamond in the rough. As far as compensation goes, I think it all depends what you ask them to do. And it all depends on how attractive they may find YOU. I had a Columbia U grad student, athletic, basket ball player ask $20 for a mutual j.o. session. I always gave him $40-$60. Here in NY, $100-$120 gets the non-pros interested in a full on fuck session. Just my thoughts.

Same rate range for non-pros I found cruising the NYC bars/clubs.

Also, a hint from the Harvard Negotiating Project: Ask them how much they would like, rather than offering a price. The negotiating experts say that on average, the buyer gets a better deal if he lets the seller peg the price. I found that generally to be the case here.

Do y'all feel safe bringing these unknown guys back to your domiciles?

In the situation I describe, having met them in person over drinks and a chat, yes.

Of course I would probably not leave the Hope Diamond out on the kitchen counter. But I can really only think of one way to live life with zero risk...

I wonder the guy's reaction when he finds out he got ripped off...

I don't know old you are or if you're in good shape or overweight like it's so common in the South, but you ever me a non-professional guy couldn't get it hard? When I was young I didn't even look at guys 20 years older than me, you need to have a stomach to escort, even with Viagra not everybody can do it.

Interesting thread. I have been wasting a lot of time on grindr and scruff scouting for talent. Usually i prefer to let them quote what they want and in 90% of the cases they have no idea. So then begins the a la carte negotiations. A lot of guys are into 420 and such and they are willing to go low on the price but i avoid them. Be prepared for your ego to get hurt however. One absolute stud in the area turned me down saying he is open to getting paid but he's afraid he might throw up on me.

Thank you for your replies. My pictures (included with my thread here) are included in my a4a profile and I am in decent shape, but Im not sure if/how that has so far entered into the cost of the encounter. They seem more interested in if they can trust me. I prefer to meet them at a hotel, which in my area is cheap and available. NYC would be a totally different issue. I'm def old enough to have fathered these guys. So I do make sure they have no age issues. I will try the suggesteion of asking how much they need. I like that idea. It would help me out to pay a lower rate as it's obviously not like getting your car detailed or getting a haircut - neither of which you will need again for a long time - I just met this kid yesterday and I'm ready for a return visit!

I never bring anybody to my home, pro or non-pro. Here in NY, I visit the guy at his place, or I rent a hotel by the hour. Easy. There literally are 100s of aspiring models, actors and dancers here in NY, for whom $100 makes a big difference. It is important to establish a bit of a rapport with the non-pro in a bar, a club or even online before making the offer though. It all helps.

Thanks for mentioning the 'Harvard Negotiating Project' - that's valuable advice!

Yall, this aint that hard. One of the downsides of the escort review world is that we have made man2man connection stuff seem almost impossible without 10 or 20 great reviews preceding a meet-up.

By the way....Jake.....whatever happened to the young fella you had a crush on awhile back? Could you not work out a deal with him?

There is a lot of truth in this thread. The very little spoken of reality is now coming to all of our attention: the rise of the 100 dollar boys. It is a dangerous game in so many ways and yet a game most clients love to play. The biz it is a changing.... The 200-300 dollar household name superstar pros sit home alone on most any given night these days all the while maintaining to their ever dwindling fan base how busy and booked up they are. Well the truth is they are not.....

A phantom menace called Craigslist, a 4 a, backpage, Grindr and scruff is now a fully functional evil empire!

Mikey, this made me feel sad. I can understand what you are going through. While I don't do CL, BP, Grindr, scruff, or A4A, I have been doing the bulk of my hiring from the stripper boys. I have found that I can socialize with them over the course of the evening, or many times over the course of several weeks, to see if we are compatible, do a lap dance at only 25 a pop to see if we have chemistry, and in the end take them home for an evening at only a few hundred dollars. Most are exceedingly grateful for a night out, a nice dinner, or a day on the water, and sometimes they enjoy spending the weekend. The cost to me, pennies compared to hiring a "pro" off a traditional site. There are a few pros that are on my wish list, but that list is rapidly diminishing. For me, this system could not work better. My two latest finds were dancers from Twist who came up to FTL for the weekend. Both men, absolutely gorgeous. Indeed the business is changing. I wish there were some answers for you, but I rather suspect that many clients in the last few years have turned to alternatives in their hiring.

Mikey, I hope it's not changing that much. I think there are still plenty of guys out there, ourselves included, that will stick to hiring the professionals. We hire professionals because it is relatively safe, we generally get exactly what we are looking for, and most of all we can make an appointment for when it fits into our schedule. It is proper for that kind of service to demand a premium over more ad hoc arrangements.

It is called evolution and competition.

I have had a recent hire off of CL, he fit my bill to a 't'. Tall dark and handsome, struggling actor, sweating waiter. Dangerous not, kid is awesome and I will see him again.

The above being said, what about a 'well reviewed' $250/ hour escort reviewed here who ripped off a series of clients. Don't know all the details, but Caveat Emptor !!!!

Are they being ripped off though? After all, the amateurs can just go to backpage and Rentboy to see what other guys are charging.

It's an interesting situation, because many guys may actually be willing to pay more for them because they are less sexually experienced and less professional. But the amateurs also have less time to market themselves and so won't have as much time to target high paying customers.

In Southeast Asia, semi-pro freelance P4P girls can usually be hired for less money. OTOH, sideliners working in brothels earn more than the full time girls (but that's partially because the the part timers are considered better looking and younger).

For dumb ass Armadillo here, can someone define the difference between a 'pro' and a 'non-pro' prostitute??? Both are paid. Is it just where you put your ad?

Now, now, you're a very smart armadillo. :) From what I've read here, non-pros are usually who are college/grad students or guys who have full time non-P4P jobs and escort only part time. They mostly advertise on Craigslist or sometimes Grindr and similar, or they respond to ads by would-be clients advertising on these sites. They often escort sporadically, only when they need money.

Is this accurate?

Well I don't know you Armadillo, but I rather suspect you are not a dumb ass. IMHO, there is little difference between a 'pro' or 'non-pro' I have had good and bad experiences from both, but far less disappointment with the supposed non-pro dancer boys. They are often more appreciative of the time and money spent on them. I also know full well what I'm getting before I hire, and at pennies on the dollar.

This doesn't work for everyone, and many here are loyal to the "pro's" and I understand that, but many here have also found that their options in hiring have greatly expanded in recent years. Everything in life and in business changes.

I think what they are considering a Pro is someone who regularly markets himself as such and who actively posts paid for ads on sites such as rentboy, m4rn, etc......

the amateur is someone who just does it occasionally when they are in need of some extra/quick cash and they do not post on the high profile sites mentioned above.
