About Chicago…

So we all had a great time together and I just wanted to post a follow-up thank you to everyone who participated and helped plan the event. It was no mean feat to get there, and it's safe to say we all appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. The dinners/brunches/binge drinking/trips to Steamworks were awesome, and I am happy to say that Ace is no longer a virgin regarding the latter.

I apologize for the delay in posting… just after the trip I went out of the country (where the Internet likes to hide in dark places) and then Daddy’s health and site apparently decided to go on vacation together as well. Glad to see that’s finally back up!

Hopefully we’ll be able to plan another event like this next year, in another mid-country city. :p

Nashville, anyone?

If I have my way we will have dinner at Publix.

Yet another reason you were designated the EOY. ;)

Have you ever tried the pot roast from the Publix deli? It's probably the best I ever tasted. yummmyyyyyyy!

LOL...love Publix. Their deli sandwiches are excellent...great for a lazy afternoon, and you can order on-line and pickup whenever you want. Love it!! AND....love the "Boars Head" brand.

The big "have lunch at Publix" trick is the following... as told to me by "professional senior citizen Publix shoppers" who live in Florida. Of course it is best to go on a day where they are offering free samples of their various offerings (on such a day they will be scattered throughout the store), but on any given day they usually have a try before you buy of items at their deli counter... and even when you do buy they offer you a tasting as will... So with a little ingenuity one can shop and have lunch on them as well...

Also, Publix freshly ground all natural Peanut butter from their deli is the best I have ever had...

Plus, their Key Lime pie is as good as any... and impressively decorated too boot... and this was told to me by a friend who lives in the Keys!

Plus, the challah bread from their bakery...

End of detour!!!! Now back to Chicago... I did get a report via email when the site was down... and it did seem as though a great time was had by all... and then some...

Glad that you guys... and gal... had a blast!!!

You need to visit a Mariano's when you have the next gathering in Chicago. At the West Loop store, I feasted on samples of freshly-pressed OJ from the new juice bar, sushi and sashimi from the in-store sushi bar (no, not a guy putting sushi on a box, but a sit-down sushi bar), cookies, deli salads, grilled steak and chicken (they will grill any meat you buy...for free!), all manner of cheeses, coffee, gelato, and more juice. When my friend and I stopped at another location to get my birthday cake the bakery lady gave me a dozen Italian cookies as a birthday gift! I also sampled barbeque from the in-store BBQ restaurant, more imported cheese, mango juice, olives, and almost every meat at the deli. We truly had lunch at Mariano's that day. I might move back to Chicago just to shop at Mariano's.

Now, if only Mariano's gave samples of Chris Eisenhower's ass. One can dream one's little dream.

This was my first event. I felt a little awkward at first. But with a little glass or two of courage, support from my date for the weekend, and a spectacular group of guests and escorts, it was of the best weekends ever. Thanks so much to event planners, excellent job. Kudos to Chris and Dane. Sure hope it comes around next summer!!!
