Cruising the Caribbean, Cozumel and areas

I'm back; now looking for advice on an upcoming cruise in the western Caribbean that includes Cozumel. The other areas don't seem to be that gay adventurous but I was wondering of Cozumel would be someplace to explore while on a day long cruise rest. Looking for cruisy bars, yup that's me, right to the point, get off the ship and head to the gay part of town. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sorry can't help with the bars in Cozumel, LOL...I decided the Mayan ruins at Tulum would be more interesting, and indeed they were unbelievable.....and cruisey as well. It was the best of both worlds.

I was just in Cozumel on the 17th for a Day with the Norwegian Pearl. Spent the afternoon on an America's cup sail boat racing. That was awesome. Right off the dock is a mall area with shops and restaurants. I didn't venture further thank this area. LOL....same ship different day, but I too would not venture much past the dock, without being with a group. Our tour guide warned us of crime in Cozumel and in Jamaica. Once on the mainland, our group was told to go directly to the buses, though Playa del Carmen did seem to be a little more laid back, and less touristy, and thus more safe. I would go back..... I did venture out a bit in both places, and probably should not have, but I was with friends and so felt a little safer. Good luck Rocky.

As I see it the major problem with Cancun, Cozumel and the entire Yucatan Peninsula is that there are so many direct flights between the U.S. Midwest and Cancun. The entire area is over flowing with middle aged, overweight, Midwestern, straight couples many of whom are drunk on their asses. I always get the feeling that Cancun and the surrounding beach resorts are in reality U.S. resorts that somehow took a wrong turn and ended up in Mexico. There is little or nothing of Mexico in these places and very little interesting gay life.

You might take a look at the site http://www.sexyservidores.com. It is in Spanish but easy to navigate. When the homepage come up mark the acceptance box (a little hard to see in all the greenery) and then hit “Entrar”). When the page appears you will see “otras ciudades” in the top menu bar highlight it. You can then scroll down and see escorts listed from Cancun and Playa del Carmen. I have never used the site because I no longer visit the area and most of the other escorts reside in Mexico City which I also don’t visit.

The best city, beach resort, in Mexico for gay action is undoubtedly Puerto Vallarta. It’s all there gay bars, gay strip clubs, gay beaches all combined with a charming old Mexican town feeling.

 

P.S. I spend a great deal of time in Mexico and have become very weary of all the hype about crime. I have NEVER had a problem. All one needs to do is use the same precautions one would use in any strange city anywhere. Don't venture out into unknown area late at night and stick the city center, tourist areas and major beaches.

I used to go to Playa del Carmen. It was my favorite escape. Puerto Vallarta is just too much for me. Plus, it doesn't have that amazing Caribbean water! It's true that Cancun and Cozumel are filled with drunk Americans, but Playa has a much more European vibe. I would get a little place close to the beach on the north side (quieter) and just swim and walk the main drag, 5th Ave. I ALWAYS met boys. Many not even working, but young and beautiful. There is even a gay bar called Playa69 that gets packed. Though I always met guys just walking down 5th Ave. I loved it there.
