I would say if gay men who are interested in hiring and know of this site and don't use it, then they are pretty stupid. If they aren't aware of this site, then I don't really think you can blame them. I mean I came across this site years ago by accident probably not long after it launched. I had a broken leg at the time. The doctor wanted me to keep it elevated 23 out of 24 hours a day. I was at my desktop computer during one of my leg down breaks. And somehow found this site through a search engine.

 

I'm still not sure if Wanderman is totally a scam. Two years ago when they 1st started advertising and had a link to their site, I emailed them about one of the escorts they were advertising on Rentboy. Initially te ad had said the escort was versatile. I contacted them, and they told me the escort wasnt versatile. I looked back at the ad, and sure enough it now said top. I emailed and asked them why it had changed. They said it was up to the escort what was listed. Now if it was a scam at the time, why wouldn't they haver told me the escort was actually versatile and tried to get me to send them money to arrange a meeting?

 

Of course even if they weren't a scam then, they could be now.

When someone is hiring an escort (or thinking about hiring one) there are many things that should pop out that screams fake. Pics in the add looking different, refusal to send a face pic, no phone number, etc. These are all red flags that anyone who is reasonably intelligent should pick up on, regardless of whether they have ever heard of this site. A quick google of the phone number will tell you a lot as well.

Same here. And the escorts are getting craftier, picking out fake pics from posted Tumblr selfies instead of the Rick Day shots many of them preferred. I consider myself fairly good at observing the human form AND spotting Photoshopping when it comes to comparing photos.
