Our avoidance thus far of cracks about torpedo tubes, up periscope, blow and go, etc., etc. is perhaps commendable.

But the appalling absence of Richard Basehart innuendo really cannot go on.

I was only a little nipper, but Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea was never my favorite. My older bother loved the show though.

Actually, I believe it has been passed by both houses and signed by the President. This is the military appropriations bill.

My mistake. It passed the Senate last Thursday 12/19 after having passed the House previous to that. As of 12/20/2013 it had been sent on to the President. But the articles don't mention if he has signed it yet. He supports the Bill, so unless something changes, it is a given that he will sign it. The latest articles don't mention the sodomy provision specifically, but since such a big deal was made about it before, if it had been stripped from the Bill, I'm sure there would have been a news story on it.

So in effect, yes it has passed!!

I've seen at least one story in the gay press that said the sodomy law revision was included in the final bill.

And "Voyage to See What's on the Bottom," as Mad Magazine called it, was a favorite of mine. Especially when, at least once in each episode, the sub swayed from side to side and they all ran back and forth! My brothers and I referred to it as "the weekly run."

That reminds me of the original cast SNL spoof of Star Trek, with Belushi as Captain Kirk and Chevy Chase as Spock. They did the "evasive starboard", and everyone leaned to the left, and "evasive port", and everyone leaned to the right - then Chase announced "Frankly, Captain, I'm exhausted".
