I hope all the guys in the ad will be there but I kinda doubt it. I was at Boardwalk a few weeks ago, and noticed a few of the dancers that worked at Johnny's. I spoke to one of them and he said that with the new VIP rooms at BW a lot of the dancers left Johnny's and are either working at BW or Swinging Richards.

I'll be in town next weekend and I'll try to pass by Johnny's and see if all these dancers will be there.

Totally agree... I would be surprised if any of the dancers in the ad will be there. They've been using those same images for well over a year, maybe 2. And I can't imagine how they would entice those who've moved on in their lives to come back without some kind of big payout (not going to happen). But it's a clever idea, at least in theory. I'd be on Orbitz in a heartbeat if they really did something like this and could actually publish a true lineup of "all stars" who are coming back. But I think it's safe to say it's just a gimmick. Please do let me know if we're wrong! I'd love to be wrong in this case!

Thanks for the update too regarding the dancer comments. I knew the curtains would be a game changer. But I didn't really think it would lead to a mass exit by the Johnny's dancers since Boardwalk usually likes the older and bigger look. Does that creepy kid still "patrol?"

Boardwalk has changed

...Boardwalk usually likes the older and bigger look....
During my recent visit to Fort Lauderdale, Boardwalk looked very much like Campus on a very good afternoon. There were a few older and bigger guys, but most of the dancers were younger -- some twinks (e.g. the Colombian twins Alfonso and Fernando) and many swimmer-build types. Quite a change from the Boardwalk I knew and didn't love the past few years. I assume the private lap dance booths are what made the difference.

No kiddin'! Wow that's good news (for the 2 of us at least lol)! Boardwalk was always just my pregame spot. It was really getting bad this time last year. I'd imagine that trip to Bed Bath & Beyond to buy those curtains has paid for itself. :)

*cough* Hey Montreal clubs, take notes! :)

The creepy kid still patrols the VIP room at BW. Not sure what he does exactly or why he is needed but one of the dancers told me they have to pay him every time they take someone to the room. I should have mentioned that when I went to BW they several new dancers. Most are the bigger guys so I imagine there isn't much of a market for the Johnny's thinks there. But I was surprised at how many new dancers they had. There were at least 25 working the night I went - a huge improvement from before!

Aha...now I know what "the creepy kid" in Jake's post referred to. I actually chatted with him a bit when he was sitting at the bar...thought he was kind of cute. I guess it's the haircut and the eye makeup that make some people think he's creepy:).

Before my virgin experience in the Boardwalk lap dance booths, I asked how things worked. I was told that the dancer gets $20/song and out of that the house (represented by CK) gets $5. I said I would pay the $5 myself and did so. Other dancers built the house fee into their price quote: $25 for the first song; $20 for each song thereafter. Those guys paid CK when we finished. CK asked for their (dancer) names as we went into the back (and perhaps logged some other information on his clipboard; I didn't look).

The floor-to-ceiling curtains in the lap dance area are somewhat shear. Inside, the booths are quite dark; the corridor outside is lighted. As a result, when you're in a booth, you can discern if someone is outside in the corridor (which could serve as an early warning system :)). But if you're standing in the corridor, you can't see through the curtains into the booths. Neat setup, IMO. There was certainly no attempt at monitoring what was going on in the booths while I was there.

One more thing: again like Campus, dancers (at least the ones I dealt with) were open to negotiation about prices. Mine were also quite generous about time above and beyond what we had negotiated. I'm not suggesting this is true in general, just providing some data points. Another data point, FWIW, is that none of the dancers were unpleasantly pushy.

That's a great description of the dance booths and especially of the curtains. They definitely serve as an early warning system! :)

I think prices went up with the new booths - one of the dancers quoted me as $30 per song. But newatthis is right, the dancers are definitely open to negotiating.

Well I've never paid more than 20 dollars per song, nor have I been quoted more. Twenty dollars seems standard for now, so personally I would hold to that price. You can also negotiate a flat rate, instead of trying to keep track of how many songs have played. It's easier, and often it comes out cheaper. The dancers do pay a 5 dollar fee, and I always add that amount to the total.

I do go early sometimes and I have had a chance talk to the kid that monitors the lap dance room. He actually is pretty nice. I have tipped him a little something if I want more to happen in the VIP room other than just a lap dance. BW also added 2 more booths, so there is five total.

Since the 'Snow Birds' arrived in town, I have been there on Friday and Saturday nights, and it has literally been standing room only.

It's been wayyyy too long BVB!

In fairness, I've never talked to the kid. It's just that Star Trek haircut is a little odd. :)

LOL.... I got a little (ahem) sidetracked this year, and was ' MIA' for awhile. Heading to LA for Christmas. When are you heading this way? You do know that Swinging Richards is now in Pompano. It's only about a 7 min drive from the Boardwalk. That's trouble my friend, "Right here in River City" ;)

Hey Jake, in reference to your initial post....is that Ethan in the bottom right that you mentioned? Looks like him to me, and if that's who you missed out on, I will say he was fun for a couple of songs the night I met him a while back!

Yep! I first saw him on amateur night a couple years ago and was so bummed I couldn't take him for a dance. Then about 6 months later sure enough he was a dancer, but far too many beverages were consumed. He was really sweet and I tipped him at my bar stool. I apparently tipped really well because all I remember was him trying to get me to go back for no charge. lol But I was a damn mess.

I did see him one other time at Johnny's but he wasn't working at the club. He was just with a client. I've checked all the web sites but have never found an escort ad for him.

My bud and I call him "Drake Bell"... I forgot his name is actually Ethan. lol

I just returned from a long weekend in Fort Lauderdale and first the weather was great and I was happy that i missed 2 snow storms at home but bummed out when I had to shovel my way into my house.

I was at both the Boardwalk and Johnny's. At the Boardwalk they have redone the booths in the lap dance room and they now have 5 curtained off booths. They are dark and very private. I always negotiate the fee with the dancer upfront about what I want and what I am willing to pay. 4 out of 5 dancers agree and most deliver what they promissed. It's $5 to the kid in the back for the house (I find him to be unfriendly but I really don't speak with him) which I always give to the dancer in additon to our agreed upon price. The Boardwalk was full of mostly good looking dancers on Friday and Saturday there had to be 40 each night and they spanned the spectrum from twink to swimmers to jocks, to buff boys and muscle men. In general I had a great time, my big bitch is the smoking. Ricky aka Eddie Cambio from Paragonmen & circlejerkboys was bartending. He's hot and very friendly.

At Johnny's it seemed to be a little quieter(but way loud) than usual and almost all the dancers were new faces to me. But again I had a good time and 4 out of 5 were willing and able to deliver to the goods.

It was another great weekend in FLL; nice weather, good food, good friends and fun at the bars. I stayed at the Alcazar in the Worthington complex and highly recommend staying there. Decent rooms, 3 clothing optional pools, 2 hot tubs and the place can be cruisy especially at night around the hot tubs and the guys are very friendly.

So this thread got me all impulsive. Hello from Ft Lauderdale. lol

All of you who've been talking up how much better Boardwalk is... I doubted you. Not gonna lie. Boardwalk for me has always been merely a pregame spot until the 2 for 1 drink special runs out at 9.

Not anymore.

I have never spent an entire night at BW until last night. Definitely a nice range of guys, including some love for us twink and muscle twink lovers. There were a couple of the furniture guys, but by and large, I'd say about 90% of the faces were new to me. I still haven't tried the new curtained private dances yet because I went a little too hardcore on the beverages. I ended up spending an hour or two in the car recovering before my drive back to my room.

Only familiar one I remembered the name of is Jesus... I saw him on a previous trip about 6 months ago. His ego is a bit over the top, but the dude is gorgeous. Kind of short, about 21ish, dark hair, about 160 pounds and he's solid. Not too much muscle... just enough. I didn't talk to him last night but I remember someone on one of these boards telling me that he charges more than the other dancers for a private. lol Good luck kid!

Got an invite to the "Friends & Family Christmas Party" tonight from 8-11. No cover, $3 you call it drinks, buffet and ... $10 dances. I love the absurdity of that last part ... Family night ... hey mom and dad, come get a $10 lap dance from your son! :)

OK Jake, still trying to get my head around this one. You spent an entire night at Boardwalk and never once tried the "lap dance rooms?"...seriously? You crack me up, and your TM's were hilarious.

If you didn't block me after those texts last night, I question your mental health. When I read them today, I just rolled my eyes at myself. Google Translate would crash trying to interpret them.

God no...they were hilarious, and almost got me to go out....;) but like I said, "The English" guests wouldn't have gotten it.

Night #2 was a knockout win for Boardwalk again. Man, that almost pains me to say it. I've been such a die hard Johnny's guy for years, but the 'Walk has really stepped it up. It was jumpin' last night for "Friends and Family" night. That invite I mentioned yesterday did indeed get you a bracelet that got you $10 dances (I couldn't be that cheap though, ended up paying the regular rates) and $3 name your drinks til 11. Again, lots of variety for all tastes... from muscle to miniscule.

For the second time ever, I did a private dance at Boardwalk... I only did 1 in all my visits when there was no curtain. To me it always seemed pointless. You had no privacy. It was awkard and uncomfortable and that kid monitoring always put me off. The curtains have fixed everything. Speaking of the kid, after reading some of your comments, I finally talked to our Jr. Spock like friend... and ya know what, he is a sweet kid. So I'll stop picking on him now. Or I'll try.

On my previous trips to Ft Laud, I usually would be on my way to Johnny's within nanoseconds of the 9pm 2 for 1 special ending, but it happened again last night... looked at the clock and it was already after 11. Boardwalk is really that good now. But I couldn't come all the way here and not check out Johnny's. So off to Broward I went.

I walked into Johnny's and wow, a ghost town. About 10-15 dancers. 4 or 5 really cute private dance worthy ones... and a bunch of ehhh, if he was hitting on me on Grind'r I'd probably reply types. There were definitely more dancers than customers. It had that awkward feeling of being there at 3am right before closing time, except it was 11:30.

Many approached me, but one straight'ish 21ish jock white boy caught my attention. He just had the straight boy swagger and when he gave me the usual "I'm bi" line, I was sold... he's straight. I like straight. If I want a gay guy, I can hit up Grind'r. These places offer the Disney experience to me... what I can't have in real life I can have at these clubs. Not going to mention his name, but I will say the Johnny's boys now know they have to go above and beyond. And holy crap did he ever. My eyes were as wide as they could be within 10 seconds of him closing the curtain. Wow.

Saw a couple familiar faces at Johnny's... "Cowboy" is back. A little older and not as boyishly cute. But still pretty hot. Tony 22'ish twink, light hair, a few tats, who's been around for a few years, was wandering around in street clothes. He's escorting on A4A I noticed. Also saw "Sawyer," the top dog from previous trips... although he too wasn't in a towel like the dancers... he was in full street clothing too. Still cute, but I just remember what a dud he was in the back. He is a blond guy, about 6'3, 160ish, solid, cute, kind of a Ryan Phillippe in 54 type body.

I might make it to the new Swinging Richards tonight. We'll see. I haven't been since the move... but their prices really put me off. It's so hard to justify paying $150 for what I can get for $50 just 20 minutes away. As far as bang for the buck goes last night, as fun as Boardwalk was, that private dance at Johnny's has been the highlight of the trip. I know I won't get that kind of effort from a SR guy. Ya know?

Maybe things will perk up tonight since it's Friday night for Johnny's. I'm going to try to hit up all 3 clubs.

By the way, they had the poster I originally started this thread with up all over the club. I won't be able to stay til Sunday, so will look forward to any reports you guys have. I really can't imagine it'll be as amazing as it sounds, but I'm certainly curious.

Excellent post Jake. I know you had fun, as well you should. Promise promise promise, that next time you are in town I will join you.

I realized a few months ago that the BW had really begun to change. I really didn't believe it at first. I thought it was some fluke, but damn, now I prefer it to Swinging Richards. I've been to SR several times since they opened in Pompano, and I just don't feel as though they are bringing in the crowds. The manager says that the customer count is the same as the old location, but liquor sales are up. So they are pretty happy. To me it just doesn't have the same energy that the old location did. It's close by, so I will still go from time to time, but lately the Boardwalk is always packed with dancers and the crowd is really high energy. What I like most about the Boardwalk, is that it pulls in a noticeably younger client base. The younger crowd creates a lot of high energy, which always makes for a fun night.

What a great review! I'm one of those that like an evening when the dancer to customer ratio works in my favor. I'm sure the dancers don't care for that. Your description of the 4-5 private dance worthy guys makes me look forward to the next trip. That is plenty enough eye candy for me to open my wallet. I'm thinking next time I'm in town, dinner at BW then dessert at Johnny's.

And the winner of night 3... Boardwalk. Johnny's was busier Friday night, but Boardwalk sweeps. Hopefully these pics will work but here are some of the guys I spotted this week that Johnny's has been posting to its Instagram:

http://distilleryimage10.ak.instagram.com/f762f51c691311e39f5d1216726e22b2_8.jpg

I saw guys 2, 3 and 4. At some point I chatted with all 3. All were nice but not pushy.

http://distilleryimage6.ak.instagram.com/27ed2c8c54ad11e39dfb0ac1ed5599c8_8.jpg

Never saw #1 or #3, but the middle guy is much cuter than the pic. He worked the room occasionally, but he never approached me so he didn't get my $. He was one of those Johnny's boys that likes to gossip with the girls near the locker room.

A different shot of him... #3 is the Tony I mentioned in the post a few days ago. He also was more preoccupied with chatting with other dancers. Noticed he's escorting on Adam 4 Adam. He has worked out quite a bit... not sure if I like the bulk on him. He made a cute twink.
