Korean Teen Boys Getting Plastic Surgery: But do they look better?

Because my academic research is related to evolutionary biology, I'm very interested in what makes people attractive in terms of sexual selection and whether the strategies to "jump the evolutionary queue" actually work.

 

Korea has the higher per capital rate of surgery of any country in the world. Many of the candidates for Miss Korea famously looked alike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9NKQX3JX-s

 

Now, teen boys and men are now starting to take advantage of these procedures as well. I wonder, though, if the surgery is making them look more attractive and masculine or just more Western? What do you think? (Again, neither the before or after is my type.)

The thing that is amazing is that it isn't just a slight change it is move into witness protection and no one will find you change.

The twin girls in the article are amazing. They were not that bad looking before but now they are Disney cute.

As far as this guy he looks like he has become his own son. I don't feel he has become more western at all. In fact the ideal for a western man would be to have a strong jawline and in this case it was softened and feminized. It seemed to have changed him from a man to a teen just out of puberty. Look at the case of the man in the US who had all the surgery to look like justin Beiber. Here is a man in his 30's who now looks like a teenager. In US plastic surgery so often it looks like something is slightly off but these Korean examples seem so natural. Unneeded but natural.

Very odd. Why do they want to look European? The one boy is even wearing blue contact lenses and has his hair colored. I'm always amazed how often people say they wish they had my blue eyes.

what's sad about this are guys who hate themselves at a young age so much that they feel the need to disfigure what makes them a part of their group to feel better about them selves

 

once saw an escort who went over the top with his surgery and now he looks vaguely alien. puffy lips, weird eyes, the works. really sad

Yep, they're wearing circle lenses which actually make the whole iris look bigger, and dramatic fake lashes which have the same effect.

gee, those wacky Koreans on that show!....those background sound-effects, jeez....I gave up at 8:22.....that show's style couldn't possibly be based on US shows and style.....could it??!!
