THE REST OF THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

To all who have responded so far, I must say I'm overwhelmed by the response. Again. As of now, we have 35 confirmed attendees for the luncheon. And I've only heard from one DC area resident yet so I know that will go up considerably from the DC contingent alone. When I was in DC today I made the reservations at Annie's for the luncheon. We will be upstairs this year in our own little area,

The rest of the events I have planned you may choose to join in none, some or all, whatever you wish. Most you don't even need to let me know -- just show up and join in. Mostly I only need to know if you are joining us for one of the other dinners.

Friday, January 17

Meet at DC Eagle for drinks. Mainly for the guys interested in the leather scene. It will be busy with people attending MAL, but I'm sure we'll be able just to mingle and meet. Meet sometime after 9 pm'ish.

Saturday, January 18

1. Keenan has graciously agreed to serve as a tour guide for a quick tour of Baltimore for anyone who might be interested. My partner and I are definitely going up mid-morning so if others are interested, let me know. If we can all fit in my car, great. If we need more space, we can all just take the MARC train up. Either will work great. As of now, we'll probably leave DC about 10ish.

2. Dinner Saturday. As we did last year, a group of us are planning to go to dinner at The Dubliner, an Irish pub just a block away from the George. I've been going to the Dubliner since I was in college. If you are interested in joining us, let me know. Probably plan on eating about 730.

3. After dinner, it will be our yearly visit to Ziegfelds/Secrets, the drag show downstairs/gay bar upstairs place we've gone each year. This always gives us a great chance to meet and talk and mingle. And find Ace someone to take home with him. Z/S doesn't open until 9 and the drag shows don't start until 11 I think so no rush, just show up if you want. Most of us will probably be upstairs most of the time.

Sunday, January 19

1. The luncheon at Annie's. We officially will say 1130, but people will start filtering in as early as 11 for drinks and to mingle.

2. Dinner. As of now, I am planning on going with my partner to a wonderful DC restaurant called Founding Farmers. We'll probably shoot for reservations about 8, so if you are interested in joining us, let me know.

3. Karaoke. With this group, it's usually a lot of fun. We have quite a few talented singers, led of course by our own Rock Star Fantasy, Ace. There are at least 6 of us who have performed in the past, so come out and join in or just sit back and enjoy the entertainment and company. We'll be meeting at a local gay bar, the Green Lantern. Karaoke starts at 9, but we'll probably shoot to get there about 930ish.

****************************************************************

So as of now, that's about it. If you are interested in joining us for dinner Friday at the Dubliner, Sunday at Founding Farmers, or a brief tour of Baltimore on Saturday, send me a PM. As we get closer, I'll make sure everyone knows all the attendees (in case someone hasn't posted their attendance), the addresses, and any other info. But we already have more confirmed than we had last year and we are still 2 months away. I didn't announce last year's event until November 11, so I know we'll get a lot more interest. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new friends. Ask any questions. And hope to see you in DC in January.

  • 2 weeks later...

Another event, not associated with us, just came to my attention, and I wanted to let the escorts know about it if they were interested. Hook is sponsoring a meet and greet for guys working in the industry. It's from 4-6 pm on Saturday, January 18 at the Hyatt, where MAL is headquartered. Here's the link to register.

Just thought I'd pass it along to anyone who was interested.

I'm relatively new to the Forum so I haven't been around to attend in the past.

Glad you can make it. And at 8 months, you're hardly new. Hell, I'd only been a member of the forum for 5 months when I organized the first luncheon (I'd only been here about 3 when I announced it). The arrogance of youth. And now that I've mounted this horse, I have no way to get off. :)

And welcome to everyone else who has responded here. Just to give everyone a quick update. There are quite few guys who have confirmed to me in private whose names aren't here on this list that I am 100% confident they will be here. So as of today, we at 34 guests I am 100% confident will be there (which is already more than last year): 20 escorts, 14 clients. There are another 9 that I am about 90-95% confident will be there (2 escorts, 7 clients). And another 8 (3/5) who have expressed an interest to me or another attendee. If all of those show up, that would put us at 51. Crazy. And we are still 8 weeks away from the luncheon. And knowing the names of the escorts who I am 100% confident in who still haven't posted an acceptance here, I'm betting that will really encourage a lot of other clients to make an extra effort to attend. Maybe even from outside of the DC area.

At this rate, we may have to split into 2 groups. The upstairs room at Annie's can hold 50 at tables and another 8 the bar there. I can have 2 or 3 escorts sit on my lap (oh please, oh please, oh please). So from humble beginnings of 14-15, we are now at this. Next year's luncheon will be at the Verizon Center (where the Caps and Wizards play). But we'll make it work.

I just wanted to give everyone a quick heads up before the holiday. Thanks again to all who are coming and all who have expressed an interest. PM me if you have any questions or just confirm here if you want to attend. I'll be getting in touch with everyone via PM sometime towards the end of December as things get finalized.

Have a great holiday everyone.

Lee,

I will volunteer and be glad to have a couple of escorts sit on my lap too as a way of helping out the seating arrangements ;) I can wear my shorts too and they won't take up as much space as my slacks!!! Thanks for all your work getting this arranged. Looking forward to seeing you, Jerry and all the rest in January.

Funny...I was having brunch with the always-delightful Mike Cruise in the upstairs room at Annie's just yesterday--after running into Dave at the first place we tried (where the wait was more than an hour). Sorry I didn't recognize you Dave. It was the short haircut! And who was that handsome boy you were with?? ;-) I asked Mike about the luncheon (I don't get to the Forum much) and he said it was on. I'll definitely be there for the main events and as many others as I can muster. So glad we'll be upstairs this year. It was a little awkward when folks I knew walked through our room last year. :-) Thanks, Lee, for all your work in organizing such a fun event!

Just to compare this year's event to last year's, I looked at the thread for last year's get-together. The first time I announced the attendance number was on December 20, and it was 20 confirmed. Today, November 27, we stand at 37 confirmed. So 3 weeks earlier and with one extra week beyond that for the event (remember last year's was a week earlier due to the inauguration), we are virtually double the number. Unbelievable.

I've been looking back at the threads for all the events. In year 1, (2011), we had 9 in attendance. Everyone except for BMW has attended all of them (and 3 I haven't heard from yet for this year). In year 2 (2012) we had 21. Last year, year 3, we had 32. We are at 37 now, and if the past is any prologue, I think 50 is a very reasonable expectation for this year's final count. Possibly more.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. Be safe if you are traveling. And enjoy yourselves.
