I am the celebrated owner of the Worlds Worst Porn Collection. Notice I didn't say cheapest! This shit costs a fortune and trial and error just isn't showing any progress. Recently I spend 60 bucks on a flic, got home and there were only two scenes on the whole tape! The least they could have done is dub those scenes over again to give me time to get my pants off.

 

I love the old stuff, I hate, really hate walking through video stores! Any suggestions on titles and internet stores to buy?

I buy the cheap ones for $10-12 at circus of books. At least, if they are bad, you havent thrown away too much money, and often times they end up being pretty good. Also, some of the 4 hour compilations give the stars names and the name of the video so if you see a scene you like, you can purchase the real video. TLA Video has good searching by porn star name, etc., but I have never purchased anything from them.

I *rarely* buy a porn movie unless I've first rented it. I've broken that rule once or twice, usually because I know most of the actors. (Don't ask. ;-))

 

When you ask for recommendations, it helps to know what you're looking for. (just like when asking for an escort recommendation) What age range? What types of scenes?

 

People can recommend favorites, but if it's not in the genre you're looking for the reccomendations won't help.

Ain't that the truth!!!!!! I've purchased my share of crap... but to my credit much of it was cheap... and it really shows.

 

GOt some great deals on new stuff on sale art RAD VIdeo (shop carefully though) and on used tapes, at first rentals (pretty good shape mostly) then via Ebay --- new, used, recent, vintage, high class (Falcon, Mustang etc, TItan, K. Bjorn. Bel Ami,) Asian, amateur - home made JO, marines, Mardi Gras, precondom, the list goes on. Some great deals, some not so great but I just had to see (eg. Falcon where a guy sits on a traffic cone... ouch :o ). Seems many buy tapes and watch one or two times and then sell. Great way to get Falcon mail order quality (uncensored) tapes at cut rate prices

 

So now I'm sitting on my own video store :-( . The orignial idea was to view and resell... well best laid plans... I found that after I came out of the deepest closet and started playing in the street that I had less time and much less desire to spend time in front of a video screen.

 

Note on Circus Books (if it is the one in WEHO on Santa Monica) been there, not bad prices if you shop carefully and don't demand too much, else the real quaity stuff, while priced better than most places, is still not cheap.

 

Try Ebay, --worked for me, too well -- if you do then just be patient and set the max you are willing to bid up front before you start (sounds good doesn't it). Take some time to watch how the bidding goes -- sometimes there is a strategy that might be helpful other times it's strictly a roll of the dice. Remember, there is always another opportunity that will suite your taste coming up in a few days on ebay. Speaking of tastes -- they used to sell some REALLY RAUNCH (too much for me!!) stuff there but that was some time ago. More recently ebay has tried to police the adult auctions more, cleaning up the pics in the notices and putting way-out-stuff out alltogether. Don't know how that has worked out since I dont hang there anymore.

 

More than you wanted to know from an ex-video junkie up to his arse in video...

 

Maybe I'll open a combo lemonade/gay porn video stand in retirement. :-)

I've basically stopped buying porn in part due to some of the reasons mentioned by Jason. Also, pretty much anything I want to see I can find on the Internet for free. And I feel if I am going to spend 45. a tape I might as well not buy 3 to 4 and use the money to hire an escort instead... it is far more fun

"Rent", not the musical, but as in borrow from the store for a night or 2 before you invest the big bucks. Yeah you have to give a name and address, but in WeHo that shouldn't raise any issues. I find there are few tapes that I really watch repeatedly over the long haul. Depending upon your tastes if you find a studio that consistently pushes your buttons buy one direct mail, and you get special offers for the tapes as low as half price 3 or 4 times a year. Some of the big studios also have "preview" tapes with hot scenes from 5 to 15 videos for $15 which is fully applicable to the purchase price of one of the full length videos on the tape. Although they only give snippets they can sometimes be hot and give a flavor of the tape if you can't find it for rent. Downside of mail is the shipping and handling ripoffs- I suspect the shipping and handling actually covers the full copying cost of the tape these days.

Indeed. The Titan sampler, for example, has brief snippets from almost every video the studio ever made. Most of the snippets are the cum scenes, which makes for entertaining watching. (Reminds me of the tribute WGN put together for Sammy Sosa showing all of his home runs for a season back to back. Whack! Whack! Whack!...)

 

But more important, they're shown in reverse chronological order so you get a feel for the evolution of the company and what a typical "Titan Man" is like today. (Masculine, hairy....)

 

Those samplers give you a good idea what a studio is all about.
