Waiting for an escort--how long?

A companion to another thread here about waiting for clients. I generally don't worry about no-shows because I go to the escort (although once I got to an escort's apartment door and he refused to open it or answer my calls afterwards). However, if an escort tells you to call him at, say, 7pm to confirm that you are about to leave for his place, an hour's travel time, at 8pm, but you call at 7 and get no answer (or a machine). How long do you keep calling before you decide that he is a "no show"?

 

If I don't get through to him within a half hour, I figure the appointment is cancelled and I am free to go elsewhere. If I do get him at 7:30 and I'm not already so pissed that I want to call it off, I remind him that I will not be late if I arrive at 8:30, not 8. Unless the experience turns out to be fabulous after all, I also won't even consider tipping him. (Please, no tangential commentary on whether escorts should ever be tipped--there are enough threads on that already.)

I'm not sure that scenario makes any sense. If you have an appointment to meet someone at his place at a certain time, do you have a right to expect that he will be there to take your call an hour beforehand? I suppose if I were in the position of having to take a long drive to meet someone and wanted to be sure he would be there, in addition to making the appointment I would also arrange with him a specific time at which I would call to confirm before setting out. If I did that and he wasn't there to take the call, I simply wouldn't go. I might or might not call again a little later to see if he was there. Probably not. A lot of the negative experiences clients have described in reviews here happened because clients chose to ignore conduct that was deceptive or unprofessional and go ahead with the appointment anyway.

If the escort does not call or show within 30 minutes of the agreed upon time I consider that a broken arrangement. I will simply hire someone else for that night or the next. The only way I would consider the no call / show escort again is if he is someone I had seen previously and eventually called me with a reasonable explanation.

I think you misread my post: I said that the escort told me to call an hour ahead of time, before I left my place to travel to his, to confirm that I was coming. I have found this a fairly common procedure among escorts whom I am visiting for the first time.

Depends on the escort... for a very few, until the cows come home. For others 30 minutes, after 20 negative thoughts set in, after another 10 a call is placed. Only happened once to me (knock on wood)... resulted in a negative review.
