I used to smoke , but no longer do. I really do not like to be around smoke now . I also realize from past experience how hard it is for a smoker to be in a non smoking environment ; so I can see how hard it would be for someone to deal with. How do other non smokers deal with escorts who smoke and what is your experience ? Do you avoid them or does it sometimes work out ?

I'm very very picky about smokers, to come straight to the point, I hate cigarettes, but I have to deal with it everyday, not only while I'm escorting.....

Avoiding someone because of the cigarette, is a bite too much unless, the hygiene is missed.... I have seen smokers so clean I could barely tell they were smokers, but in some others cases, it is impossible to forget it, because the smell of the breath was horrible. Worst the breath is when they try to hide it with a mouthwash... yuck. I guess it depends on how much you smoke and what you smoke

I would love to hear your opinions guys about it. It is something that smokers and non smokers have to deal regularly....

Although I am a non-smoker, I have always associated smoking with sex, so it doesn't really bother me if an escort smokes. In fact, I really get off on a butch biker type smoking a cigar during a scene, as long as he doesn't want to use the cigar for anything but smoking.

I have never smoked either, Charlie, and I think that that is part of the situation here. People who have smoked and then quit always seem to me to be much more bothered by second hand smoke than those of us who never smoked. That isn't to say that I haven't been bothered, very, very rarely, by the taste of smoke on someone else's tongue, just that I think that it would take more of it to bother me than others because of my personal history.

I fear you may be overgeneralizing here, Bilbo. I have never smoked but I still find the smell nauseous and unpleasant in the extreme. I am about as intolerant of smokers as one can get this side of actual bigotry. I don't allow anyone to smoke in my home or hotel room, and when I come home from a bar I find that my clothes reek. The only time I have ever thrown an escort out is when even after showering with him and scrubbing him clean I still couldn't get rid of the odour. I was not impressed by his protestations that he had simply spent a couple of hours in the company of smokers before coming over. I am not *that* sensitive.

 

For those who do smoke and so can't tell the difference, kissing a heavy smoker is like kissing someone who has just eaten a mixture of ash and garlic. Clean skin has a wonderful smell that just gets overwhelmed by tobacco. You can smell in on a smoker's breath, on his clothes and on his fingers. Ugh!

 

Fortunately for me, I only go for escorts who are in shape. Most of these care about their bodies and their health, and only relatively few smoke. The pick-up scene in bars is an other story entirely.

I laugh when I walk past a gym near me and see the VERY buff guys walking out the door after a workout who immediately light up as soon as they hit fresh air.

 

I'm a smoker. I think Stephan will agree I go out of my way to be courteous about it. The only time the smoking issue annoys me is when a discourteous non-smoker refuses outright to meet me half-way on the issue.

 

When I'm with a group, I'll step away (or outside, or whatever) to have a smoke. I'll respect a non-smoker's home. Even when they say "it's OK, my father-in-law smokes here all the time" I still step outside out of respect.

 

It amazes me when that respect is not returned.

First let me state that I'm a non-smoker and have never smoked. I have been with both escorts who do and those who don't smoke. I must admit the first 2 escorts I hired didn't smoke, however the third escort I hired did smoke. He stated he was really turned on by kissing so I went along with it. I had not given any thought to asking if the escort smoked until this guy started kissing me. Oh my how gross!:-( It toke me brushing my teeth 3 times and mouthwash before I got the taste and smell gone.

Can't say I've anything specific to offer that is Steph-approved. I think common sense (which usually isn't that common) applies.

 

Some people, though, will never be appeased by any effort. <shrug> I don't hire them and I don't date them.

I am also a nonsmoker with a real aversion to cigarette smoke. I can tolerate it to a certain degree, but when I'm hirng an escort I try as hard as I can to find nonsmokers and usually ask the question upfront. I really get into lots of kissing and cuddling and that's just not as much fun with some one reeks of smoke. I've been with guys who smoke but not really heavily and they usually try to chew gun or something before hand. Sometimes it works out if they're freshly showered.

 

I love going to Remington's in Toronto, and of course just about everyone there smokes. I just deal with it because I enjoy ogling the boys. I let Ethan kiss me and hang all over me because he's so adorable and I spent plenty of time (and $$$) on Christian because I find him so beautiful. But those are really exceptions for me. After spending a night at the club I always take a shower first thing back in the hotel and I tend to "save" a pair of jeans that I only wear to the club so I can keep my smoky clothes separate from the fresh ones.

Ah, but being buff is not the same as being in shape.

The problem is that many smokers don't offer that kind of respect. Besides, I can tell my guests to smoke outside, but I can't tell them to take their clothes off and shower when they come in.

 

By and large smokers have no idea how much they stink until they have gone cold turkey for a few months and then get exposed to an obnoxious (as opposed to a "respectful") smoker. Then it hits them like a ton of bricks and they can become anti-smoking militants like Bilbo describes. They smell the roses for the first time and want to be able to keep doing so. My point is that you don't have to be an ex-smoker to be grossly repelled by the reek. I'm already there and I have never smoked in my life.

 

But if we non-smokers think we have got it bad this side of the Atlantic, we can always meet our private version of Hell in Europe where you often can't sit in a railway station or even on a park bench without being wrapped in noxious fumes. I'm looking forward to when all those smokers get sent to "re-education" camps and are made to look at pictures of diseased gums for sixteen hours a day. (It would only be for their own good, after all.) ;-)

 

There's obviously something to be said for Stalinism. Oops..., hold on..., Stalin was a smoker too. Bad example. :'(

You know everyone is different.... I really don't know what people should do....... My first boy friend back in Vegas smoked for the 2 years I was with him and My second bf also smoked ( man I should find one who does not lol) and both of them had a different breath , and I did not mind because they were clean. they never smoked before we were making out or kissing and that was really respectful....... During my escorting I have met a lot of people and most of them I could tell if the guy was smoking cigarette or not. But I really do think that cleaning your teeth and doing a mouthwash just before seeing a guy, would not make the taste dissapear, for me it makes it worst.....

I'd rather kiss something having the cigarette breath and clean normal that someone trying to hide it.....

May be for some people out there, eating or cleaning just before to kiss would not make any difference, if you do smoke 2 packs a day... So many things make it just different for everyone

Yeah Bilbo hit the nail on the head so to speak. Having been a smoker (quit for 4 1/2 years ) it bothers me probably more. I see escorts for overnights and multiple days and I understand how tough it would be for an individual to refrain for a period of time. I also may be uncomfortable with them constantly wanting to leave to go have a cigarette. I know how that goes too. It depends on how the time goes between us ! It can be a dilemma for some people. I think that it needs to be discussed before the meeting don't most of you agree ?

The rudest remark I ever made was to a dealer in Vegas. She was working in the *smoking* section and complained incessantly about the smoke. After a while, I just snapped. The pit boss reassigned her (and I suddenly won back everything I'd lost).

 

I go out of my way to respect non-smoking areas. I hate being disparaged for smoking in a designated smoking area.

I must admit that I, too, do put my clothes into the laundry basket right after I get back from certain bars, particularly the one where I do drag shows for charity, like the one this Sunday (just shaved my beard off for the Houston Summer, plus an obligatory Octorber drag appearance, so it will come back in November, unless I'm doing a legit stage role that can't handle it. Boy, am I talkative this morning!)

I'm sorry Stef but you're the one that wanted to go the bar to see where I hung out on Wednesday nights, so the alcohol on my breath wasn't my idea. Well at least I don't smoke and have on occasion taken a shower just from having been in a lot of smoke before getting in bed with you, so at least I try.
