Posters with a good track record are now able to have their posts appear immediately and not go through the queue.

Newbies will still have to go through the queue.

It is taking me time to upgrade everyone, so please be patient. It is an arduous process that I have to do one person at a time.

I hope this will bring back the liviness to the Message Center and I thank you for your patience during these goofy times.

My thanks to Daddy-In-Training for implementing this new ability to be moderated and open and the same time.

I hope you enjoy the new freedom but respect the responsibility that comes with it.

Thanks to Hoo and Daddy!!! You're my heroes! :-) It'll be nice not having to do as much moderation.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a slight bug as there is no longer a generalized "read" icon I can use any more to clear the messages. :-(

deej,

I don't know if this question is Kosher but I have wanted to ask it for some time, and it is probably better asked of Hoo, but , here goes...

Can you give some idea of how many posts on average per day or week get moderated to that other plane in the sky?? And any sense of how many unique posters are responsible? I know this is diffficult to know for sure.

And if this info is on a need-to-know basis, well I understand, I'm used to that environment. :-)

I'd be interested in knowing that too. It'll also be interesting to see who comes crawling out of the woodwork to try and establish a track record...

I'm still here so I'll take a crack at answering.

Currently it's considerably less than 1 per day. Probably something like 3-4 per week.

However, if Hoo makes "bashing" a formal violation of this board, the number could easily double or triple.

I don't think it's need-to-know. It's just hard-to-know. :-)

We have absolutely no idea what the other moderators have been doing when we're looking at the queue. And as far as unique posters, we wouldn't have any way to tell. All we see is a name, usually unrecognized, but it's probably all one person.

I think Losgatan's guesstimate is probably close. I certainly don't have any "science" to refute it. And as he says if rudeness, bashing, or meanness ever became criteria for deletion the number would probably triple. ;-)

As I've said before, moderating isn't an easy task. All we see is a name and a message. We have no idea what it's in reply to, no context. Often, since people edit the subject on replies, we don't even have a clue what thread it's going to.

For the first wave, HooBoy plucked a number out of the air and if you had that many posts and a record of not breaking the rules you were "upgraded".

Getting upgraded is not a permanent thing, though. Anyone can be downgraded and returned to "moderated" status at any time.

Send pleas to HooBoy. :-) He is the decider and the do-er of the deed.

Also, some people need to log off and then log back on in order to get the new status. So if you think you've posted enough times and have a good track record try that first.

And if all else fails, put on your favorite pair of heels, click them together and chant:

"There's no place like Hooboy's..there's no place like Hooboy's.."
