I face reality 24/7. And for an older gay man living alone, reality is not always that pleasant. Many thanks for your post, and many thanks to all you guys who responded. I too am in my late 50s and discovered this site about a year ago and began hiring escorts last October after much reflection and consideration of guys reviewed on this site. I am a person with low self esteem and because of my profession depend on descretion, I came out to my family and friends many years ago but still keep my sexuality private. I long ago realized that I was not going to find a life long partner. I went through the bar scene and the street hustler scene now I live alone, travel alone, holiday alone. I do not see these encounters for anything more than they are, but I have met some great guys who made me feel as if they wanted and appreceiated my company, despite my very out of shape body and plain looks and I will, given the opportunity, hire them again. Also I have enjoyed reading the posts on the message center, yes, the last little while there has been little of worth here, but I still visit every day. I hope that here, even via the internet, I could develop some kind of friendships with men of like minds.

This comment couldn't ring more true, but I do believe that there comes a point, which has paased long LONG ago, when a person(client or escort) is tired of false accusations and misleading judgements. To tell you the truth I am surprised I have not received a bad reiew on this site. I have been going through some rough times and admit that it had bee reflecting on my performance as an escort. Today if someone were to look me up on this site, besides the fact that it says I'm no longer working which is false, a person would think that I'm a saint.

 

That is to say if they believed that I wrote all my reviews. On that not, I have not written a review for myself and I never plan to. If I stay withfive reviews for the rest of my escorting carreer then by god I stay with five. If those who choose to write a review choose to all the same. If or when a bad review does show up I will only state the facts that were blown up and also the ones left out. Other than that I have no reason to "fight" with the client.

I would prefer it as well although now that I look at it, was there ever any original interests besides the moment hooboy himself had that burning sensation and desire and thought spark inside his head to create a site that provides a service to escorts as well as clients? I don't know. But if "original interests" were to be a cause to fight for, who would fight for it? The same people that post here who have turned this place nto what it has become? Or the escort that sighs and suddenly has twenty new e-mails and requests for a small portion if his time?

While I am pretty new to this place, I also became disenchanted very quiclky. I thought it would be a place where there would be a healthy exchange of ideas and information, and what I found was a lot of bitterness and anger. I was about to stay clear for good, but I have changed my mind for 2 reasons.

 

First, this whole posting is exactly what I was hoping to find.

 

Secondly, if I stay away because of others abuse of the place, have I not let them start to control a part of my life? With that in mind, I REFUSE to stay away. I will not let others control my life or behaviour in that way. While the nastiness may at some time be directed towards me in the future, I am comfortable in the knowledge that the comments say much more about the writer than they do about me. No matter what outrageous thing I might say, the ownership of the response is completely the territory of the respondee.

 

As for other comments here about wanting to be with someone younger, etc., I personally don't connect to it. I would actually prefer to hire escorts who are older and have worked through their life issues. Unfortunately, escorting is generally the territory of the young, and as such I deal with it.

That's the trade off it seems I must make if I am to have sex in a relatively ucomplicated situation.

It takes a lot of courage to admit when things are wrong in your life. It's easy to blame others and take anger out on them. It's quite another to come to terms with what is wrong and deal with it. I am glad to see that you are starting to do thought. The response you gave here was very honest and, unlike the post in the other thread (responding to WorldEscort Sean), much more mature.

 

The negativity that exists here is a problem, but how we respond to it determines if it will continue to be the status quo. There's nothing wrong with escorts defending themselves, as well they should if false information is posted about them. It's those few escorts that responded like Whitney Houston high on cocaine that caused part of the problem. Those that have responded in a mature adult manner have helped to ease the negativity.

 

That's not to say that only a few people on the escort side have been assholes. There have been a few on the client side who have been just as bad. We've seen Jason Reardone and Zack Evans take more abuse than they deserve and these are two great escorts!

 

I too would like to see the conversation get back to adult level and out of the schoolyard.

I have been visiting this site for about eight months. At first I was so interested, but then it just seemed to get so angry and uninteresting. This post has been great. I'm in my late 30's and reading everyones ideas have opened my eyes. I love when you are reading a post and totally agree with a point of view and then you read on and your opinion changes and you see the subject differently.
