Yes. And I wish you would stop doing that.

You talk the talk, but you don't walk the walk. In one thread you argue in favor of freedom of speech. But when you come across speech that you don't like, you tell the speaker to shut up. Try practicing what you preach.

>If the discussion turns on a

>free-speech question, I am firmly

>with you. However, within

>the boundaries of freedom of

>speech there is also something

>that used to be called

>good taste and might better

>be described as caring a

>little bit about the feelings

>of those around you.

>

And then there is the situation in which someone pretends that inoffensive language is actually offensive so that he can have an excuse to bash the speaker. That is what happened here. That is what you are defending.

>Publicly calling someone an asshole

>on a couple of observations,

>is also not so cool.

So far, the only person I can recall who has used the word "asshole" in this thread is you. If you're concerned about good taste, stop using such language.

You keep trying to change the subject to personal attacks. Every time you do, I will have to point out that personal attacks have nothing to do with this thread. FFF did not engage in any personal attacks. That cannot be used as a justification for treating him the way you did.

>I think that just as we

>have the right to speak

>our opinions, we must have

>the right as well to

>tell others that we think

>that what they have said,

>or how they said it,

>was offensive or insensitive or

>whatever. Freedom of speech

>calls for that freedom as

>well. In an ideal

>setting, ideas can be discussed

>vigorously without resorting to name-calling

>and I think that the

>discussions that do degenerate into

>name-calling are ultimately less interesting

>than the others. Sure,

>it can be fun watching

>a hen fight, but it's

>still just a hen fight.

>

Once again, you are trying to change the subject to make your behavior seem more justifiable. It isn't going to work. FFF did not engage in name-calling. I will not let you pretend that he did so that you can justify the harsh words you used to him.

RE: LEST WE FORGET...

<<I have been so deeply hurt by this thread, whats the point of respect anymore?>>

DUDE!

if you're really ALL THAT deeply hurt by an online message board, maybe you have bigger concerns than hiring escorts. perhaps you could use the savings for the weekly truckloads of prozac it sounds like you might have use for.

It's obvious you are taking the narrowest possible view in order to continue trying to make points you have made before. That's classic confrontation behavior. I don't agree with what you are saying and nothing you have said has come close to persuading me that I should change my mind. I suspect the reverse is true as well, leading me to believe this exchange has reached the end of its useful life.

As I said above, my post was in response to an accumulation of posts FFF made in several threads over a very short period of time, including personal attacks on several different people and calling at least one of them an asshole. Those personal attacks were exactly the reason I created that post. You seem to question that, but it seems to me that of the two of us, I am more likely to know why I wrote what I did.

It's unusual for me to post something that strong, but I felt it was justified at the time and I'm not convinced now that it wasn't. I'm already on record describing my rationale and I don't need to state that again. But I further admitted above that I may have misjudged FFF and, if I had, I apologized.

In terms of "walking the walk and talking the talk", I'm very comfortable with the cumulative record I have here at M4M. I'd certainly be comfortable having it contrasted with yours.

Since it's clear we don't agree and probably won't, re-hashing this further isn't likely to prove of value. You may have the last word if you feel a need to.

The last thing this message board needs is another poster who uses psychobabble like the above to put people down.

In case you haven't been paying attention, I have been making the very same point over and over again since my first post in this thread. It's wrong to deliberately mischaracterize an inoffensive remark in order to silence someone you don't agree with. You've tried to make this about something else, but every time you try it I bring you back to what actually happened in this thread.

> I don't agree with

I haven't been trying to persuade you of anything. I just want to register my disapproval of what you've been doing in this thread.

I have no idea what your motives are and I don't much care. I don't think your characterization of FFF's behavior is accurate. Even if it is, you have no brief from anyone to determine the standards of behavior here and to lecture people about them at tedious length. FFF has been very helpful in pointing out what may be bogus or inaccurate information about escorts on a number of occasions. That, in case you didn't notice, was his reason for starting this thread. I think a couple of people who don't like what he is doing used this thread to attack him and I think you participated in that. I don't want your attacks to go unanswered because I'd rather see more of the sort of thing he does than more of your lectures on being "sensitive."

As another poster recently said, if you think it's wrong to put other people down on this message board, don't do it. If you're going to do it, you have no right to criticize others for doing it. No one likes a hypocrite.

I don't know how I missed this one last week. Pretty damn good.

And this one put a big smile on my face on Monday morning.

Later.

PS. I am the poster child for ecstasy over-kill.
