Say you see a studmuffin in a public place. A non-gay place, like a grocery store, a straight bar, or wherever, but you just have to have him. You have no idea if he is gay, or even knows what escorting is, but there is something so sexy and appealing that you want him, even if $$$ will work. He looks so good that he should be an escort but you have no idea. So how to you approach him? What do you say? What do you not say, for fear that you could insult him and get punched out??

I'm not quite sure how to deal with getting the guy to your place. But once there, Aaron Lawrence recommends "liquor and porn" as the magic ingredients.

Probably these ingredients work well in any recipe.

You could say something like,"Hey,weren't you at the 'ABC bar/club' last week".(ABC bar or club being a local gay spot). If he's never heard of the place, you're probably out of luck. However,if he has, there's your icebreaker.

Sounds like a good pick-up line....Let me write that down. :)

Johnny,

Having led a straight but closeted gay/bisexual life all throughout my adult life...here's some of the pick-up lines some of my gay co-workers/friends/acquaintances has used to see if I was gay or bi-sexual/bi-curios and playing straight did not find offensive even in a group setting.

1) Have you ever read (name local gay magazine or newspaper that only or mainly a gay/bisxual person would know like The Advocate, Out Magazine, Bay Area Reporter, etc.) If I was not interested in that person, I would just say "No, never heard of it." If I were, then, I would have responded "Yes" and engaged in some topic of interest.

2) Have you ever been to (name a function/festivity that is only or mainly known to a gay/bisexual person such as the Folsom Street Festival, etc.) Again, had I not been interested in that person, I would have said, "No", and if I were, I would have responded, Are you going there? And the guy who asked me the question was quite slick, because I knew that he was closeted too, and told me that he was tied in traffic because of the Folsom Festival and asked if I knew what it was.

3) Such and such person look like the model I've seen in (name a famous gay magazine that's underground but known mainly to gay/bisexual male such as Freshman, Inches, etc.) or name a famous gay Male pornstar. A regular straight guy would respond like "I don't know who he is" or if he's interested, would pursue the subject matter.

There were so many others, I just couldn't think of them all right now, but like I said, playing straight, did not find the questions offensive even in front of other straight people.

Hope this helps...ket me know if it works.

Sorry for all the typos and misspellings...it's too early in the morning and trying to type in the dark. :)

You could also ask him for directions to 'XYZ club'.......again,if he's never heard of it,I would probably move on;but if he has,who knows.............
