Thank you for your input about the exit console. I have been debating with myself for the past month if I should get rid of it or not. I know many people find an exit console annoying (including myself), but it has helped my business tremendously. As of now I am going to keep it unless an overwhelming number of people contact me to take it down.

None of my business, but how do you know that it has helped your business?

What constitutes an "overwhelming" number? Personally I hate it.

I hate exit consoles so much that I actually avoid web sites (including yours) that include them. x(

Have to go with the others, Jason. Sites that direct me to other sites on closing are the pits!

This post reminds me of the old saying "Careful what you wish for...".

I, like most others, despise the exit consoles. I hate going to a site and when I think I'm leaving it, I am instead sent to an internet hell where ads with big-breasted babes and hideously hung hunks continue to assault me even though I desperately try to close those windows.

I had all of this in mind when I chose to add one of those pop-up windows to my site. I added the pop-up window because I wanted to keep myself at the top of that Top 100 Escorts List; I was using it as a marketing tool. (By the way, who the hell is DAKOTA?!?!) And, since it was only one window and easily closed, I rationalized my hypocrisy.

Since several of you have now told me that pop-up windows are second only to rectal surgery, I'm working on a solution where the window pops up for just a second and then closes on its own without the viewer having to click on his mouse constantly like a monkey wanting more cocaine.

In the interim, please hang in there with me and stop cursing so loudly - I'm sure you're bothering the neighbors. :-)

And having experienced both, actually rectal surgery is preferable! :-)

LAST EDITED ON May-12-01 AT 12:51PM (EST)[p]GREAT reply Billy. :7 I still won't be visting your site anytime soon. (I boycott all sites that include exit consoles.) I know that you're helping Rick Munroe with his web site. Please don't give him any ideas re: adding an exit console. I don't want to have to boycott his site too! ;-)

Don't worry, Justice. The help lasted about 5 minutes before it metamorphosed into kisses & blow jobs. My site will be up next week and it will be very simple & straightforward (like me). :-)

I, too, don't like it, but it doesn't keep me from visiting a site.

But, Jason, in your defense, I have to say that I appreciate the fact that you have only one clean pop-up (as you pointed out too) and then I can get free.

One, I can live with. On so many others it's like trying to slay the hydra - when you get rid of one, half a dozen more spring up to take its place. Big ones, little ones, all over the screen, so you have to run from place to place stamping them out. And sometimes they are recursive and you have to go through the cycle all over again and again and again.....aaaaaaaaaagghhhhhhhh......

I think that would be a reasonable compromise, since you have a valid business purpose for having it there and you say it has helped.
