Ever notice that in the credits for every movie (we're talkin' regular movies here, guys) there is a Best Boy? Do they really supply boys to everybody in the movie while they are making it and then take a poll to see which one was best? And is there an award for that, like an Oscar or something? Any LA guys know about this?

The Best Boy on a film production is an assistant to the Gaffer. The gaffer is the chief electrician or lighting technician.

 

They both work for the director of photography. :-)

I don't know anything about Best Boys or Oscars, but perhaps there should be a formal award ceremony for escort winners in various categories. There is already the start of an award competition but without a ceremony on this site. Escort winners could be presented with little statuettes called Dickies (appropriately shaped, of course; these are already available in most -um- "adult supplies" stores). And there could be a live broadcast of the presentation ceremony (on cable, of course; or maybe Fox would carry it). Interviews with the escorts and the clients who recommended them, home video clips from their nominated performances, ...

Great PR for the individual escorts and for the industry. The possibilities are endless.
