I hope you realize that the whole of Iceland has a population about the size of a respectable North American suburb. The gay scene is likely to center around the (probably) single alternative bookstore. The natives are cute (typically blond but shorter than average for Scandinavians) so you can always try cruising, but I suspect this is one trip on which you won't be digging deep into your financial reserves to satisfy any sexual cravings. ;-)

LAST EDITED ON Apr-12-01 AT 06:48AM (EST)[p]I don't know about the escort scene in Iceland, since I was there on business and had meetings at night. However, of late, a lot of the gay magazines have had articles on Iceland, so I imagine there are at least gay clubs. Reykjavik is a very lively partying city.

You might want to check out the first issue of Passport, which was awesome, lots of good information (I subscribed based on this one issue).

There is also an article in the April 2001 issue of Genre.

I didn't see it, but there is always the Iceland Phallological Museum to check out (NO, I'm not kidding).

Let me know if you want me to post more about the clubs in the magazine.

Have fun! Don't forget to do the touristy things, Iceland is a truly unique and beautiful place.

Iceland is a fascinating place, but the only gay man I knew in Reykjavik (who unfortunately died some time ago from AIDS) said that the gay "scene" is tiny, mostly people who socialize privately. No one could make a living as an escort within the gay community there, and there are not enough gay tourists to make advertising worthwhile.
