A little about me before I start ranting: I am negative and I do not bareback. It is my guesstimate that about 40% of the guys I meet in a non-escorting situation (bars, aol, etc) are willing to bareback. I hire escorts very infrequently, but approximately 60% of the ones I have hired have asked me to fuck them bareback. It is out there everywhere.

To the bareback police: shut the fuck up. You have no idea of the emotional and physical needs underlying the decision to bareback.

To the clients who are “shocked!” and “disappointed” at escorts who bareback: how dare you – you expect to buy your way into a “safe haven” from HIV… it doesn’t work that way guys and meanwhile you are sticking your tongue up butt, swallowing pre-cum and loads. Until you practice sex that is absolutely 100% safe, you have no right to bitch at anyone else…and even then, I’m not sure that you have that right.

To the escorts who bareback: some of you are now backtracking from being listed on certain sites and offering excuses, when in fact (again, some of you) are all over the bareback sites, both professionally and personally. After putting yourself out there like that, denying it isn’t right, either.

What is the answer? I have no fucking idea other than to say what has been said a million times…always assume your partner is positive, decide how you are going to have sex and then shut up and leave others alone.

It sometimes takes a while to get a listing corrected. I recently came across an ad for a now Los Angeles based escort which lists him as working out of New York. (He moved to LA about a year or so ago.) The ad includes his no longer operational New York cell phone number (who ever inherited that phone number must get some VERY interesting phone calls }>) and an obsolete e-mail address. The ad includes a link to his web site, which does include his current contact information -- but how many people actually notice that there's one phone number and e-mail address in the ad and another on his web site. I sent him an e-mail and he responded that he has made repeated attempts to update the ad. Hopefully, you'll have better luck.

Why should I care whether someone else barebacks? Because the whole society pays a price, in several ways.

One escort (not one I've ever hired) told me he thought the state should pay for all HIV medications for anyone who wants them. I asked him if he paid taxes on his escort income, and he said no. This was an HIV+ escort who barebacked.

nickisup4it: Yes, people go overboard in their judgments. But this is a complicated issue; it's more than just a matter of personal freedom.

Am I to believe that you all think that if an escort says he doesn't bareback or is not on a barebacking site, that that somehow means he's HIV- and OK to have sex with? Let's face it: Both the escort and the client are strangers to each other. With that said, what is the law of gay land regarding sex? Everybody ... all at once now ... ALWAYS ASSUME THE GUY YOU'RE HAVING SEX WITH IS POSITIVE!!!!!

This way you can protect yourself from any of the following possible scenarios:

1. The escort says he's negative but actually has never been tested, so who knows.

2. The escort says he's negative, but is actually positive. (An escort lie?)

3. The escort says he's negative, really thinks he is because the HIV test he took 2 years ago came back negative.

4. The escort is positive and tells you he's positive. (An honest escort.)

5. An escort that you haven't seen on a bareback site so you think he has never barebacked, but he has/does.

6. An escort that's on a bareback site and... well... just plain loves to bareback.

7. An escort that's on a bareback site and doen't realize he's on it and has never barebacked.

8. many, many others ...

The bottom line is this: Contrary to how much you have read or heard about an escort, you DO NOT KNOW HIM! Period. This shouldn't be any different than how you'd protect yourself if you picked someone up at a bar.

And think about this: Escorts have to deal with the same thing with clients. Those escorts who want to protect themselves must assume that each and every client is positive. Or are they suppose to assume that if a client says he's negative, then he is? I doubt very seriously that escorts who aim to protect themselves would expand on what they're willing to do because a client tells him he's negative.

And last, but not least, you all know (or should know) that there is no such thing as "safe sex." But we can practice safer sex and decide for ourselves hom much risk we are willing to take. And having sex with anyone does bare (no pun intended) some risk to some degree.

So everybody, just chill. Relax. Be smart. And most importantly, be safe®.

You're hooking up with the wrong crowd. I've never been asked to bareback.

I hire them frequently, and I've never had one ask me to bareback them... Maybe it's a matter of giving off a classier aura... }> (I don't use phrases like "shut the fuck up.")

>To the bareback police: shut

>the fuck up. You

Yeah, it's called childish/selfish needs and irresponsible behavior.

>Until you

>right to bitch at anyone

>else…and even then, I’m not

Nothing is 100% sure but death and taxes. Actually, I hear some escorts don't even pay taxes (well, I suppose we at least have to pay sales tax). And I have every right to bitch all I want. It's a free country! And if some guy drives at 100 mph drunk on the wrong side of the street, I also have the right to bitch about that guy, even though neither of us can 100% guarantee we won't get into an accident. The drunk is behaving like an irresponsible maniac, and I have every right to express that belief.

I am still trying to figure out the emotional and physical needs underlying the decision to bareback, especially with strangers. But then I usually don't win playing craps, didn't play in the street as a child, and never have tried sucking off a tailpipe of an idling car. But it's all a thought.

Seriously, please respond to these physical and emotional needs to do so with a stranger. The one immediately coming to mind is positive status and lack of care about anyone else's health and well-being, but I assume that's not one of them. Thanks.

The drunk going a hundred miles an hour on the wrong side of the road, sucking on tailpipes, etc, have nothing to do with the issue. Trite phrases, however, are often effective in camouflaging the real issues. And if one cannot figure out the emotional and physical reasons that I referred to, it doesn’t mean that they do not exist. Equating barebacking with class, as Traveler does, means that he has missed the real issues by miles.

Trite phrases indeed; I asked a legitimate question and u ignored it. I would appreciate your insights cuz I don't get it.

your point is lost in me... what is it you wonder about in your nonjudgmental manner??

I personally find barebadking photos/videos hot and because of this have an affinity for the vintage porno

I also find it high risk and ill-considered to engage in too and I don't and I don't think others should outside of a very comitted relationship. SO, what is it that you would wonder about me in your nonjudgmental way??

i'd wonder why you're a pompous ass.

btw, check out escortbrothers, recently reviewed (today i think).

the video they advertise is one of them "barebacking each other". but i'm sure, you'd say since they are brothers, they're safe? or maybe you'd label it "vintage"??? what it is is stupid & reckless. now i know i promised not to post anymore, but i just couldn't deal with your drivel anymore.

i will be deleting this "name" now....

be careful guys...

I think if you reread my message you would see that we seem in agreement on this point... give it a try.

Just don't be a hypocrite about being judgmental -- you should love yourself for what you are -- or try to change.

Hello everybody. I'm BAAAAACK after a long vacation. Well, if you want to call five months of field research in Malaysia vaction, have at it.

The perception that HIV is a treatable disease is truly frightening. Although a spate of new medications (non-nucleosides, protease inhibitors and others yet-to-be-named) have temporarily halted some patient's disease progression, the spectre of treatment failure cannot be ignored. We still do not have many treatment options open to us in the battle against HIV, and the notion that the disease has been conquered is not only wrong it is dangerous.

As much as my husband (a urologist) and I (infectious disease specialist) continue to carry forth the message of safe sex, we still see and hear of barebacking. The "seroconversion" subculture that is building is a one-way ticket to a drug-resistance epidemic.

I only hope and pray that my constant harping on the subject of safer sex does not fall on deaf ears, but disappointingly it has. I still have some hope.

If they're out there for all the world to see, let's hear the names here.
