Many moons ago, when I lived in Orlando, you could find literally any type of hustler you might have been interested in. They hung (:o)) around Lake Eola and the Parliament House on OBT. Slowly, a lot of that began to dry up. i left Orlando in 1998, but a friend of mine tells me that you don't find street hustlers very often in Orlando and if you do, they are a cracked out mess.

My question is: do you think the internet (and AOL in particular) are responsible for street hustlers moving from the street corner to the cyber corner? Certainly, it is a safer environment, it allows for convenience and hustlers make much more money on AOL than they ever would on the street.

If you so a search for Massage or Escort on AOL, you can come up with literally 1000's of entries. Do you think that AOL has raised the quality of life for street boys and their clients? I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

Great point! Wise and yet obvious topic. I lived in Orlando myself modeling (not escorting) a few years ago. I too noticed what you have described.

I think the answer although quite obvious, also applies dually to each gender. Not only does the "cyber-scort" have greater access to countless potential clients but he (or she) also has more control and can therefore offer a better "product" as a result. Although I've not experienced escorting outside of the "cyber" environment the idea of negotiating fees and performance expectations through a car window, although still necessary for some, is stigmatic, and blatantly conspicuous. (Some would argue the same for cyber-scorts I suppose) In any case I think you hit the nail on the head when you comment that the internet helped many guys out of the proverbial "gutter". Chances are I never would have pursued this industry had it not been for the internet and it's protective shield against predatory characters. Protection limited only by one's technical ability and their understanding of "cyber-social interactions" (BUT THAT'S A WHOLE N'OTHER TALK SHOW) LOL -JASON:)

I can't imagine the street hustlers I have met having access to the internet.

The last one I spent time with told me that his father had just died and he was getting the estate check on Monday so he was only hustling to make ends meet until he got that check.

Now, really!

Do you think they are likely to advertise on the net?
