Is anyone else curious about the sudden flurry of very similar sounding emails to Hooboy from escorts announcing that they are leaving the profession? They seem to be from escorts with very good reviews, and one is from an escort I've been with who has made a full career in the sex business and is still in his prime for escorting. Is something new going on?

They decide to become escorts for a variety of very complex reasons. Some of them are very good at it. Some of them are deeply troubled and never should have gotten into the business in the first place.

 

I'm sure that being an escort can be a very exciting and lucrative way to earn a living. You get to meet new people, travel to interesting places, have sex (that may range from very hot to just average), and maybe even make some new friends. However, I'm also sure that it can't be the easiest career choice. Think about it -- escorts expose themselves to arrest and disease, there's no guaranteed paycheck, employor paid medical insurance or 401K plan. They have to adjust their schedules around their clients schedules, deal with no shows and last minute cancellations, and guardedly and enthusiastically respond to God knows how many e-mails and telephone calls from potential clients. It can't be easy. I suspect that all of the guys who recently announced their retirement became escorts around the same time and they've reached the point to where they've burnt out and decided that its time to move on.

I think that EWC may have hit it on the head. This might be the first year that enough escorts think enough of this site to say goodbye here when they leave. And, for me here in Houston at least, the month and a half right after Christmass when everyone was paying his holiday bills was always the weakest time of the business year for me. And, as the poet put it, paraphrased of course - you know my memory - "In Spring, a young man's fancy turns to thoughts of love."
