i know that this has been covered in the past but would like a "refresher" on it. How safe is finger fucking and what precautions if any need to be taken?

Thanks

I'm not a doctor nor do I play one on TV, but I do know a bit about safe sex. so I'll field this one: )

finger fucking is reletively safe, in fact it's very safe, with a few exceptions.

1) the anal lining is extremely sensitive, and can be damaged really easily, and well fingers, unelss you are a mutant, almost always come with nails, so make sure they are well trimmed and be gentle for gods sake!!

2)Fisting... well I won't go there, straching a hole beyond it's normal boundaries, well damage damage damage, but hey people seem to like it, which leads me to a side bar, where will it end, whena fist is no longer enough to fufill your need, what comes next, a leg,,, a head?

3)If the finger fucker has cuts or scratches on thier fingers, they are opening themselves up to possible infections, like HIV, hepatitis, etc. HIV is probably a slim chance in the case of a scratch, but hepatitis is very very easily transmitted via a small scratch on the skin coming in contact with an infected persons fluids, be it cum or anal mucous.

oooh I sound so technical.

now the Fuckee is at little risk here, but hepatitis again is so easy to catch, my advice, if you are having sex with men, get your inoculations it's painless and cheap and will save you headache and liver problems in the future.

anyone else wanna add.

and remember to clip those finger nails. they are sharp.

Well said Matt! You have the basics!

A few additions:

1. It is a good idea to use gloves when fisting or if being aggressive in the finger fucking to avoid irritation to the anus and rectum. As Matt correctly pointed out, the gastrointestinal epithelium/mucosa tears quite easily and this can actually increase risk of infection and/or injury to both the receiver and giver. Use plenty of water-based lubrication with latex gloves OR latex-free gloves for those of you who are latex-allergic.

2. Wash your hands before and after THOROUGHLY even if using gloves. Your hands are nearly as microbiologically contaminated as your mouth. Not to mention that the gloves may have small tears.

3. Be gentle!

Thanks for a good question. Hope this helps.

PS Matt: Good job!

I usually just slip a condom over my finger if I am fingering someone. It is easy, one is always on hand, and it is much better than no covering at all if one has any doubts.
