I will soon go on a cruise for the first time in my life. I have chosen a rather expensive one from Holland America Line. Does anyone have experience with picking up crew members ? I am a rather shy person, but would like to have some discreet fun while onboard. Any advice?

Have done several cruises on Holland America but never had any luck in picking up any of the crew, the company is strict about crew being with passengers, or so I understand. I will also be going on another cruise shortly, leaving to spend New Year at sea, maybe we will be on the same cruise ... If you get lucky let us know how you did it!

I've been on two Holland America cruises (one to Alaska, the other to the Caribbean.) All of the crew (not counting the Captain's staff and the casino/stores staff) are Indonesian or Filipino. I've heard that there is hanky-panky that goes on among them below decks (there aren't a whole lot of women crew members around.) But I don't have any first-hand experience.

Been on many cruises and always wondered about the crew. As said above most of Holland America's crew is Asian -- so if your tastes run that way ..... :-) Never heard of or seen a first hand experience with the Holland America crew though.

The cruise staff as it is called -- the dancers, entertainers -- is another story entireely. You will find them around and accessible sometimes and sometimes for some private entertainment if you get my drift.

Of course don't forget the passengers either -- often you can find some fund that way.

I've been on a great many cruises and I'm afraid that you'll find that the crew and staff are not going to risk their jobs for a little after hours "hanky panky". The entertainers are often obviously gay and they are very accessable during the day, but they have told me that there is little hope of any extra-curricular activity going unobserved in the small world aboard ship.

I'm sorry if this throws a wet blanket on your plans, but the chances for a "hook up" are far better with one of your fellow passangers or with someone met during your time ashore. Bon voyage!

Went on one cruise in my life a few years ago through the Eastern Mediterranean. Straight cruise (Odyssey line), so I did the purser (Greek), the second mate (Greek) and one of the entertainers (American). If you're discreet, the crew can be very accommodating. But then again, you know my fondness for screwing the staff.

Later.
