LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-00 AT 12:44PM (EST)[p]The staff at those places are usually too busy doing heroin, or picking up recently deceased guests, to provide service (or get serviced for that matter).

In my Not-So-Humble opinion, those are the three places visitors to LA stay at when they don't know better.

Princess,

I've haven't stayed at a Schraeger hotel yet where the staff didn't service me quite well. Although the Delano's staff was usually a bit easier to bed than the Mondrian's. And the bar at the new Hudson is big fun for now. Also Adriano, if you're going to check out Miami (third best US escort city after NYC and LA), look into the new Townhouse Hotel. Waterbeds with showers on the roof, lounges on each floor, it looks to be fairly hip.

Later.

PS. Hagan, your list of CA hotels mirrors places my parents stay. Are you sure you're still in your twenties?

Yes, for a couple more years anyway.

I choose hotels with either a history or style, or some combination of the two. I prefer elegance, grandeur and superior service (not just 'sevice well') to hip and aloof. Shcraeger's hotels and the like are too wanky for me. Too many drugs. Too many employees who are actor-model-whatevers and therefore too self-absorbed to make any effort. Too much of a scene (it's like staying overnight at the IVY). Too much of everything but exceptional service, well-appointed rooms, and class.

p.s. How was Belize, did you dive the blue hole? How far down did you get?

Rod,

I just came back on to see what updates were here, and your input was a perfect antidote to a too hectic business day. Wonderful humour - don't lose it! I also got a kick reading the back and forth repartee between you and Traveler.

But on a better level, I appreciate very much what you wrote about these places. I am not much of a night owl. So no matter where I decide to go, the nightlife is not an attraction (so your recommendation in Hawaii sounds good).

I have checked out a lot of cruises, but need to see some brochures up close. If I decided on this, the escort would have to be exceptional as we would be together a minimum of 5 to 7 days; so it would most likely be with a guy with whom I've spent at least one overnight (seeing who prevents whom from sleeping because of snoring).

One thing Traveler said peaked this silent cruiser's interest: How exactly does one bed the hotel (or cruise ship) help? I've heard some tales, but wondered often how serious they are. Are there some tell-tale signs? Inasmuch as my own taste runs to older escorts - those closer in age to me (e.g. well over 28 and any where up to 50) - I often find myself leering at a Concierge/Security Guard/Bartender/Bellhop and wishing I knew how to tell him "Come on up!" Years ago, there was an infamous country hotel for gay men in western Germany which was a small inn with a staff almost entirely made up of guys who readily worked also as escorts... something like the guys in the video "Naval Escort" :9

Rod - I may e-mail you privately for more information. I still have to finalize the dates for these small trips. I like a nice hotel which also has a good exercise area (gym, pool, sauna), excellent eating places nearby and a good wine list. If the room is comfortable, and with a good view, I'm fine with my books, and even better if sharing this with a nice escort who would enhance the time.

Thanks again for you detailed answers (and website helps), and most especially for your sharp, funny wit.

My favorite cruise line is the Crystal Line. Most of the time, if you are nice, you can get crew members to party with you in your stateroom after hours. (No matter which line you are on, it is against the rules, but....)

In many cases, I have done nothing but play with the boys on the ship on shore and off shore.

You have to realize that they have already slept with every crewmember on the ship, so a little diversion with a passenger is...well, a little diversion.

I'll never forget going through the Alaska Passsage and I had a suite filled with a Hungarian band and half a dozen boys from the ship, not to mention a beautful 18 year old passenger, when about 3am there was knock at the door. Apparently the people in the adjacent room were unhappy about the noise. It was the Purser at the door and he ended up joining our little party.

I rather doubt the people in the ajoining room will ever travel on that line again, but we had a great time! And I recommend the Alaska cruises. (That particular one was not Crystal, in case any execs from the line are reading this.)

The American Hawaii Cruise Line is okay. Clearly not as elegant as the Crystal ships, but not as pricey and at least you can see all the islands and figure out where you want to spend time the next time - an advantage of a cruise.

I did a Carnival Cruise once - the most horrible 7 days I have ever spent in my life. The worst food, worst service, worst crew, worst casino and visions of Kathie Lee Gifford everywhere (at least in my head).

RE: Hawaii!

Rod,

Thanks he "was" (died long ago at a young age). I definately have his genes... he kept a string of nice lady friends (which I had to keep quiet about from mom). Only difference is I like guy friends...

But he taught me about many things - so much so that I cannot sit through the movie "Field of Dreams" without losing it at the end when Kevin Costner's character calls out "Dad!" to his long-deceased father.
