Traffic is the problem.

4 hours (at best) versus an almost guaranteed 3 hour trip on Acela.
Also, you’re dumping me in Hudson Yards? The area is the hemorrhoid
of NYC. Painful, far from vital, you wish it would go away, but it most
likely won’t kill you.

If I lived in Hudson Yards (please dear lord no) and if the DC stop was
somewhere I needed to be, I’d give it a shot. Let’s face it, the Acela is
gross. I was always stunned that they never attempted a real first
class train option on that run. Just one, insanely nice car, that’s insanely
expensive.

They tried something like that here on the West Coast - don't remember the name of the company.  You left at about 11PM and arrived at your destination at around 7A.  It sounded interesting and I wanted to try it.  But before I could, they ceased operation.  The suspension of a bus apparently doesn't deliver a smooth enough ride for most people to get a good night's sleep.

I'm taking the Acela sorry. Even taking the Delta shuttle costs roughly the same ( coach / economy)  - if you purchase far out enough in advance.

There are some people who can't do airplanes - or trains for whatever reason, i could see this as being an option

Also since Covid - the Acela doesn't run as frequently
