in pre-meet communication, tell the provider that....

1.  you are an honest person and will pay for his time at the end of the meeting

2.  you do not want to talk about money at the meeting

and than ask him to confirm this is ok......

you may have to flash the cash or similar at the beginning, I suppose, but always keep the money in your control (or in view in your wallet over there in your pants on the floor!).......

My worst experience was being greeted upon arrival with some rant about how people don't do cash anymore (before meeting I have asked whether Zelle or Venmo could work, to which he said yes), followed by him demanding Zelle payment before anything happened.

I wished I had run away. His whole demeanor in those initial 3 minutes were enough red flags to foreshadow the waste of money this was going to be.

I should have left... but didn't.

I regret it to this day. My worst experience to date.

This is a smart suggestion. Thank you @azdr0710

I have not booked in a while, because this continues to come up. I feel as if I have missed a change in protocol. Mostly, in secondary markets. I find that providers are requesting advance payment or prior to the start of the meeting. I do not know of anyone who agrees with this method who also has a success story to share, afterwards.

Does Zelle offer anonymity? I know from personal experience Venmo doesn’t. I used it once with a provider and was mortified when he said “Got it. You’re [my full real name], right?”

Won’t use Venmo anymore until they change that.

Unless you set your privacy settings properly, Venmo will also share your transaction details with other Venmo users you are friends with.

No, it doesn't. It was my first time using Zelle and I was also annoyed at that.

In Venmo I only use my initials, and all transactions are set to private.

When I hired, I always kept in mind CAVEAT EMPTOR.

So, as @Epigonos and @glutes suggested, I always checked every detail ahead of a possible date.

I also insisted on checking the two of us were compatible by saying how limited my skills in bed were (“I’m only a top, and I’m selfish and lazy”) and saying precisely what I enjoy (“I need you to suck me off to completion”).

As a result, some hirings never resulted in a date. But overall, my success rate was high. Over the years, I only had dates with 2 scammers who obviously just wanted to get paid the maximum for doing the minimum.

Remember, he is offering time in exchange for payment. Expectations of anything beyond sharing time in the same space can lead to disappointment. I always bring some knitting just in case - that way it’s only money being wasted 🤓

Is the provider really exchanging only "time" for the money he will be paid?

I think we all know the foolish term of "time" is used only because of possible law enforcement entrapment reasons.

In real life, we know why clients contact providers and vice-versa.

Too bad that "honesty is the best policy" cannot apply to escorting.

It’s relevant only if you and provider have some sort of misunderstanding about the how much, the how long, the goings-on.
Pro’s obligation is time for fee, client’s obligation is fee for time. It’s gray (ymmv) outside of those two quantifiable bits.

Code violations are what they are, (until they’re not, which can be hoped for). Civil disagreements must be settled privately. By which I mean, on Twitter. 😱🤑

You can change your name in Venmo to anything you like. Literally.

Zelle works about the same but with even less anonymity and less control over your data being shared.

Repeated changes in appt. time, esp. if it’s more than an hour.

I understand things can happen at the last minute, but I get a little leery when I have an appointment scheduled with a provider for a time, and get a text (usually about 45 minutes or so before the time), asking can we change it to xxx time, usually 30-60 minutes later.

I immediately get the sense he's trying to squeeze in another appointment, which irritates me. Its especially annoying when I am already on the way to the meeting.

Most recently, I've simply declined the change only to find, all of a sudden, the original time is fine.

Thoughts?

I had that happen to me 2x over the years. Once I was accommodating and the eventual date was so-so. With the second man, I took your approach @ButchAtl and said ‘if you have to postpone, I understand but I’ll have to see you another day’…and as you related, suddenly it was fine to go ahead as planned and we had a good date.
