After the Disney films he found a home in the beach blanket films

He never forget Mr Disney introducing him to gossip columnist Hedder  Hopper  as "my good luck charm."

awww Rest in peace, he was a big child star for Disney and was so cruelly tossed aside for being who he was, which in pre-Stonewall America (and even in post-Stonewall America) meant him getting fired.  His modern counterparts are still being harassed for their gayness and told to butch it up and pretend to be straight or no roles.... Garrett Clayton is a modern day Tommy Kirk in a way... he was cast as a very heterosexual, but very homosexual boy in "Teen Beach Movie" and Disney milked him as the new Zac Efron, but he quickly was phased out because he was clearly not going to be Prince Charming to Cinderella.

Tommy Kirk was a wonderful actor and really the epitome of the wholesome American boy next door.... what a shame he had to live the way he did, but then again you can say that about all gay boys in the 1950s and 1960s.
