On Amazon Prime, had cinema release in Italy last year.

Roberto Begnini (“Life is Beautiful” best actor Oscar) plays Gepetto. 
Not at all like the Disney animated movie: Dark, like most fairy tales that originated in Europe. 
 

Beautifully cast, written, designed, and directed. It’s dubbed, which they did for the younger viewers, and if that bothers you (like me) I imagine it will be available in Italian with titles.

The magical characters including the titular one are created beautifully - the costumes and makeup are stunning.

I recommend it. Even if you do have strings…
