Yeah, I was an LA frequent flyer to the Nob Hill too. Though to be honest, I liked some of the local strippers more; less attitude than the porn stars. Every now and then, they'd have some sweet beautiful young guy or (fellow) college kid I couldn't help but fall for just a bit.... back in the day, at least. Same for Campus Theatre, where their "Shower Shows" were, unlike Nob Hill's, literally you and the stripper by a shower, together, behind a loosely closed door. Sometimes, if that door weren't totally shut, a guy or two would voyeuristically watch, adding to the thrill.

Oh yeah I remember The Campus and their shower shows downstairs in that basement!  Totally sleazy in the best possible way!  Sometimes I had to schedule my day to catch the headliners at The Campus AND at the Nob Hill, walking back and forth between the two.

Maybe you were one of the voyeurs watching me In that basement shower room, eh? ;)

Hottest strip show experience I ever had was at the Campus. Those 20-man stripper “performances” they did quarterly were an experience to behold. Man would It be fun to relive that somewhere again…..

Ah yes! Back in the 90’s I’d often stay at The Juliana, within walking distance of both theaters. I was a bit squeamish (maybe prudish) in those days about public masturbation, but steeled myself and entered. The first time I was wearing a biker jacket and a young tourist eyed me and we spend a hot time in one of the video booths. Another time the hottie Erich Lange was dancing and later we went to a large closet where I rimmed him til he shot a nice load. I agree that we need places like that again.

Like you I often preferred the local "House Dancers" at Campus Theater and many a times enjoyed the "Shower Shows" which never included a shower and the door was always closed tight. Rates were very reasonable for those private shower shows, while short but I always had a fun time. I also saw some of my favorite porn stars there as headlines. Some were great while a some where disappointing in real life. Fond memories of Campus and I always enjoyed it far more that Nob Hill.

Jurassic Gay History, but Lordy what sleazy fun it was

Windsor, Ontario just over the border from Detroit had a least 2 Full Bar/Full Nude gay disco-style clubs with solo strips and table dances…. Blew money I knew was not disposable. Oy. Still, I remember some of it quite vividly, which is what good entertainment is for.

What is it that prevents success for venues that might have same format, bar service and facilities as a regular hetero strip club, but alternating the lineup of the performers on different nights. Men. Women. Trans, Alt, etc.

I think even straight men (the ones who enjoy gay bars, like Daniel Craig…) would be surprised how a $20 lap dance from a cute stud could make them feel so appreciated.

I met a dancer there once -- he was Italian. He came by a few times and dropped down low so I could play with him without anyone seeing. He told me when he came by that he wanted to meet up with me after his show. I must have looked scared and he whispered in my ear -- "this isn't about money."

He motioned me into his dressing room later -- and we fooled around. He ejaculated all over my body -- I haven't ever seen so much cum in my life. It was memory to last a lifetime.

Several years ago on a business trip to SF I went to Nob Hill Theatre and that evening they had an event called “circle jerk with a porn star” with Rafael Alencar.  I did not try to participate but later that weekend met up with one of the dancers in a vey small private room.  I really liked that place!  It’s too bad they closed.

I remembered seeing Shane Rockland @ Campus Theater (It would have been something to see Shane, Hal and Vince Rockland together on stage.) and  Jeff Palmer @ Nob Hill. Jeff let a patron suck his piece in the open.

Wow! I remember being a big fan of Shane Rockland back in the day. He was my favorite of the Rockland brothers.

Such bad luck that Nob Hill, Campus, and other places like that became history before it was our time to have fun.  Very jealous of those who got to go and enjoy those places.  Literally no fun for us even though we got internet and some bad dating apps.  No real fun mouth watering sex!!!  Does anyone know if a place like nob hill still exists somewhere in the US?

I first went to the Nob Hill in 1975, and many times thereafter. While it had its good side, I later didn't go because the place was often full of drugged out dancers with little appeal.  It was also often pretty empty.

The very first time I went to a gay strip club was the Nob Hill.  Dallas Taylor was headlining.  He saw how nervous I was and that I was tipping stupidly high amounts.  Dallas took the time to teach me how to tip respectfully and not just burn through my cash.  Fell in love with him that day and still am to this day.  He's my choice for the Mount Rushmore of gay porn.

I loved both the Nob Hill and Campus. Although I lived in Atlanta, work would take me to SR frequently and I would usually stay at least one extra night. (Marriott had a deal at the time for people who stayed in their hotels at least 120 nights a year where if you had a paid stay on a Thu, Fri or Sat you could get the next night for free.) After the Campus closed I would stay at the JW Marriott a block away from NH and would often bring dancers back to the hotel with me. I was top tier in the Marriott Rewards program so they would always upgrade me to amazing suites. Many dancers would stay the night and come back the next night because the room was so nice.

I did go back into one of the three rooms behind the stage a few times with a few different dancers. One even brought me into the showers after we fucked. Guys were throwing us money through the plexiglass. I also once fooled around with a dancer on the back patio.  My fondest memory from there was one day when I was the only audience member so the dancer came over and within seconds sat down on my cock.

As for the Campus, I remember a show in the basement that turned into an orgy between the dancer, me and a few other customers. While I messed around with several dancers during shows, this was the only time it was several guys all over each other as opposed to the dancer working one guy at a time. While I went back into the shower room several times,

I actually thought the showers did not work because there had never any evidence they had been used.

I wound up dating a guy I met while he was dancing there. He had a day job, would dance there a couple nights a week just after work and I would meet him there and we would go to dinner afterwards. I do remember one time I got there and he was in the shower room with a customer. They guy at the door let me in and told me what was going on. I went downstairs and sat outside the shower room waiting for him to be done. When the customer left, I walked into the room and we starting some light making out. He told me that he has just jerked off with the customer but I pointed out that I had already felt the lube in his ass. I didn't care. I knew I was dating a Campus dancer and that he had just earned the money to pay for our dinner. The next dancer then walked in with a customer so my guy and I went upstairs to the dressing room area where we messed around some more, showered and left. We wound up eating at a nice fish restaurant at or near the Klimpton. For many years after that when I was in SF I would bring customers there for business meetings. None of my customers or local salespeople had any idea I wanted to go there to think about the hot Campus dancer.

I went often in the 90s.  Not quite monthly, but if there was a headliner that interested me, I might go twice that weekend.  Spend the whole day.  The headliners appeared at 1, 5  8, 11... and I'd go to all shows.  Stick around for house dancers I liked, leave for several hours if the upcoming schedule didn't appeal.

I  recall it going through phases.  Reported owner and manager changes.  Remodeling...  and different "types" of dancers.  I remember when they stopped paying dancers - told them work for tips, and they all quit.  There was a manager, Todd, who kept the place amazingly clean considering what  went on there.... sadly, he was murdered.

The very first night I walked in, Mike Nichols was performing.   He was so new there, his portrait was a polaroid.  I used to hang out on Bush Street with the performers.   One day, as Marco Rossi was leaving, I offered him a ride... he was looking for Golds Gym... and did a session with him later that night.  I hired a couple of other guys from there too.  I was infatuated with a young muscle guy who drove in from Sacramento to dance...

The busiest night was when Ryan Idol appeared... only time I saw every seat full.  A stripper group called Chicago MeatPackers put on a crazy show.   Marco Rossi appeared in one of those Ronny Larsen plays in SF...(Peep show? ).. and after the final perfor⁶mance, the after party was at nobhill.  And chi chi LaRue with entourage was there  too

I remember hanging out with young Peter Latz on the street out front of the theater... he appeared fairly regularly.   There was a wall of fame... pictures of all headliners...   Nicest guy I ever met was Eric Stone... after he died, his picture was in a place of honor on that wall.  He was a fan favorite.

Soooo many memories.   But eventually, they had dancers that didn't appeal to me.  Sparse schedules.  Had fewer and fewer headliners.   Tried building business with Bachelorette parties... the straight dancers loved those, but the regular gay patrons hated it.  So I went less and less and finally stopped going.

I have so many memories of the Nob Hill Theatre (and the Campus Theatre). I moved to San Francisco right after college in 1990 and lived there for nearly 20 years. I spent many a night and even many days at the Nob Hill and saw some of the biggest names there in their prime. I can remember being there in the early 1990s for Joey Stefano, who many of you may not remember at all since he passed away sadly way too soon at age 26. Not only was he a porn star, but also in some Madonna videos back in the day and was even featured in her coffee table "Sex" book, which I still have. He was gorgeous. I recall slipping away from work to see him on a weekday afternoon performance (he must have performed multiple times a day because I recall it was an 'off' time of around 3 or 4 in the afternoon). The theatre wasn't even crowded ... and for a performer I viewed as very famous, there may not have been more than 10 people in the theatre.

I have probably been to the Nob Hill at least 200 times in my life ... even right up til it closed. Even though I moved to Southern California, I would visit every time I returned to San Francisco, which was a couple of times a year. The place went thru so many changes and alterations over the years. I can even remember when they had an online video (I think it was a pay site) where you could watch the shows on your computer if you weren't there in person. For awhile, they even had cameras in the bathroom if I recall correctly (and I'm pretty sure I do). I doubt that would be allowed today.

There were some visits that would be extremely crowded, some not. Often times, the patrons would be hotter than the dancers and I met quite a few hot men there over the years and enjoyed some time in the booths down the stairwell. One of the hottest dancers at the Nob Hill in the 2000s was Victor, the Brazilian soccer player I've seen mentioned in this thread. He truly was hot ... tall, muscular, a beautiful ass, and a nice guy. We did a couple of privates together. The second time, he even remembered me and asked how my move went (since he knew I moved). I'm not dumb enough to think that the dancers and performers really took a personal interest in the lives of those who came into the theatre to watch, but Victor at least faked it very well. I always wonder what he's up to ... and I've tried some online searches to no avail. At the very least, I'd pay for his OnlyFans for sure.

I'm very sad the Nob Hill Theatre is gone. Nothing lasts forever, but aside from The Gaiety in NYC, it was my favorite strip club ever and I have a lot of great memories there. 30 years ago, it was absolutely a must-visit in San Francisco.

Starting from back in 2010 I visited Nob Hill theater right after i graduated from graduate school, this place was already past its prime time, but i was fascinated to the idea of watching a hot man stripping and mingling with audience so i went to there whenever being in San Francisco. I remember Victor was a regular dancer but never did a private with him,  in my opinion Mason was the hottest dancer after I had experienced Montreal, Fort Lauderdale, New York stripping clubs, he was a 26- year-old blonde, lean muscular, had a composed personality.  Mason's stage show was choreographed very well, he attracted a few regular customers to watch his show, and was pretty busy to do privates with clients after the show.  He worked there mostly in the weekend on and off for about 2 years, and joined the military in San Diego around 2012. I resided in San Diego until 2017 and was hoping to cross path with him someday, but it never happened.

I'm not sure if Gordon Grant appeared there. I wonder if there is a list somewhere of all previous headliners at the Nob Hill. Was anyone THAT dedicated to compile a list? It would be awesome if someone did. I think the only way to find out who performed there was via old issues of the Bay Area Reporter. The Nob Hill Theatre always advertised weekly in there with updated headliners listed.

I remember once - maybe 10 years ago or so - they had former Big Brother contestant Steven Daigle there. He was on Big Brother 10 (Dan Gheesling won that season), wore a cowboy hat all the time and only lasted a couple weeks on the show before being voted out. He performed a duo show and I really hate to say this, but he was pretty boring and lackluster. There are many other contestants from Big Brother that I'd rather have seen. But kudos to him for performing.
