I started hiring when I was 23ish. I had a great career, but worked a minimum of 80 hour weeks, and didn't have time to be curious the traditional route. When I first started hiring, I wanted someone my age. To me, that meant no one over 27.

There was an escort advertising, back then, who had the look I liked, but he was 29. And for me back then, that was older than I was looking for.

Now fast forward 20 years. I am 42, I definately hire around my age, but still don't mind the occasional college guy. I still see that escorts add pop up once in a while. Amazingly, he's only 34. He somehow managed to only age 5 years in 20. If I see his ad pop up again, I'll share, but it only seems to be up for a day at a time.

So my question here is, how common is it for escorts to lie about their age? Do they think they are fooling anyone? I hired a very well reviewed escort in New York once who claimed late 20's, and was obviously mid to late 30s, and I was extremely disappointed then. But all his reviews never mentioned his age.

How common? Very

Do they fool anyone? Yes, or else they wouldnt be doing it. Age can be hard to judge on some guys.

Do your homework; meet in a public place during the first meeting and walk away if you were deceived and age is that important to you. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Around 2010 this guy has been advertising since the Men4RentNow and RentBoy days.....Since 2010 until earlier this year his age was listed as being 21.  The guy says he's 21 for 11 straight years and he wants you to believe that.  I don't understand why he would go through the trouble i thought he looked good for his age.

@FilmGeek I bet as a film geek you’re aware of the complexity of casting, including the idea of an actor’s “can play” age when in consideration for (or pursuit of) a role. A little lighting here, a little makeup there, but essentially “can play” allows actors to work longer - some of them credibly play 10 years older for their entire career (men and Estelle Getty) and some, aided with filler and Botox can still occasionally play youthful romantic leads while nearing 50 (Anniston)

These days the (still mostly male) casting/producing teams will concede that the mother of the adult star’s character needs to BE over 50, but they’re visualizing a healthy, well-rested 45, and that of course means they’re not seeing anyone for the part who is over 37. Mother. To the star who is IRL 37. Playing 24…

Are you after the physical freshness to play with, everything taut and smooth, or are you more enamored with the relative naïveté of youth? Does a number, one way or another, change the experience for you? When choosing a life partner, it is clearly more important to most people. But in a temporary-by-definition relationship, I would be interested how knowing a provider’s real numerical age casts a pall over things when you actually like the goods and services.

I’ve always been drawn to men older than I am…which at this point, just means OLD. So when I shop for paid company I “settle” for 45 and up. I get grownup conversation, but don’t have to add a ramp to the front porch.

Escorting IS show-business. “Can play…” is essential to it.

Essential to “can play” ?Dimmers.

Look into ‘em!

As much as Hollywood pushes "can play" casting, I often look at 20-somethings playing 16yo high schoolers like, "you're kidding, right?"  If it's just too difficult to find a bunch of 16yo actors to play 16yo's, I can understand that.  But if casting directors honestly think that a 29yo can pass as a high school student (e.g., Gabrielle Carteris in Beverly Hills 90210), then they're flat out insulting our intelligence.

As long as an escort posts recent & accurate (i.e., no photoshopping) pictures in their ad, I'm not too bothered by a little age-shaving.  But if an escort who advertises as 21 shows up & is clearly into his 30s, I probably wouldn't hire him again, even if it were a good experience.  A little fudging, OK.  But flagrant dishonesty is just too much of a turnoff.

I agree with you about dishonesty that is flagrant!

(I guess my consolation is that I never worry about inappropriate texting with a minor pretending to be 21…)

And I remember too well how BH90210 got yanked in 1990 after just one insulting episode!😥 bummer game over

I could see shaving off years (or alternatively, adding years) to reflect how the escort looks. I used to shave years off the age in my ads because clients would tell me I looked younger than my age. I don't think they were just trying to flatter, since people in my family all tend to look younger than their ages. So I wanted the age in the ad to reflect what people might think based on my appearance, rather than wishful thinking or delusion. I know another guy who did the opposite, adding years to his age because he looked older and wanted to appeal to guys wanting someone older.

This year I finally put my age as 50. I don't know whether or not I look 50, but I'm enjoying being in my 50s and wanted to reflect that in my ad. Also the idea of a guy escorting in his 50s is intriguing to me. Time to own being a daddy!

From the ads and photographs that I peruse on both Rentmen and Rentmasseur-- I'd say far too many guys (escorts and masseurs) do NOT reveal their real age from what I glean from the photos that they've posted.  I find myself a fairly good judge of the age of many men, especially if they're of a lighter hue.  I write that because darker complexioned individuals has a tendency to age reasonably well unless they've less a "hellish" and troubled life.

Absolutely agree with @FrankR and I always did this on a first date. I did this whether it was a working guy, an amateur or an ordinary date. I can recall meeting 3 guys (in 20 years of dating) who did not look like their online photos and I said I’m not going ahead because you’re not what you said online. 2 of the guys protested, and just 1 said Yeah, I use another guy’s photos for privacy(!)

I remember hiring a guy back in the early 1990s, when one still found escorts on print media; he advertised as 30, with one hot black and white body photo. When we met, he admitted that he was 35, but judging from his face I suspected he was still fudging. Time passed, the Internet came along and advertising moved online. One day around 2010, I clicked on a Rentboy ad, and in it there was the same body photo. The ad said he was 40. You do the math.
