How 'fit' do you think I need to be before considering lipo or 'simple lipo'?  Is there a difference?   I'm totally depressed about my body; I was never 'ripped' but had my athletic phases through almost all of my 20s, most of my 30s, and a few good years in my 40s.  As I approach 50, I have ankle and shoulder injuries that won't make cardio easy as it once was.  I look at myself in the mirror with utter disgust and self-loathing.  I would love to 'jumpstart' my physical and mental issues with a quick fix.  I know, I know.... there aren't any real quick fixes that don't have consequences, but just looking for something to get me out of sadness.

Have ur eyelids done now as a little treat.

My understanding from watching @therealdrmiami’s IG is that anyone with BMI<30 qualifies.

Be careful, ECBtm. Plastic surgery is risky and difficult. Get multiple opinions and a lot of due diligence before you jump in. Maybe get some therapy for now?

since the topic has come up, is there a standard way people get rid of age spots on top of their hands?.....yes, I can and will do the usual googling around for articles, but wanted to ask the experts here......the tops of my hands look pretty close to the hand on the left in this picture  and used to look like the one on the right (surprise!).......

thanks for the ideas....

This is good advice. I was reading today that the supermodel Evangelista, who is now in her 50s, underwent a CoolSculpting procedure some years ago and is now a recluse.

The operation had the opposite effect on her with a rare reaction that produced fat rather than eliminating it. And several corrective procedures made her condition worse, such that she will not go out in public.

She is now suing the parent company, which is Allergan, one of the largest cosmetic and medical company in the world. She is claiming her life has been ruined.

I never thought she was very pretty to begin with.
Sounds like she tried CoolSculpting on her face/neck….seriously bad idea.
Nonetheless, I had never heard of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH).

You learn something new every day.

I’d start with topicals, a good absor of acid and tretinoin, the latter heavily buffered at first. Go to the reddit tretinoin sub to learn more. A TCA peel could work too. I’m less familiar with lasers for hyperpigmentation, but there are some.

Whatever you do, wear a really protective sunscreen or the hyperpigmentation will recur. The L’Oreal Anthelios ones are expensive and can be heavy, but they protect much better hr a mist American sunscreens.

I'd actually skip the thicker SPFs and go with the jelly/milk-like Asian SPF that absorbs almost instantly and provides an incredible amount of protection without feeling too greasy or coated.

Specifically, Japanese SPF is very thin (like jelly), while Korean SPF is more like a milk.

Laser will be the quickest way to get it done.  Heal time is fast and it's not invasive.

Halo lasers work well on face, neck and hands.  They're an ablative/non-ablative combo laser.

You can also do BBL laser, which will bring the spots to the surface, where they will just flake off.

A fit body looks better but there’s a trade off.  Staying slim or losing weight can make your face look older.

To me, that's a worthwhile tradeoff.  I'm all about the body.

I had a hip replacement 8 months ago followed by a difficult recovery.  I ended up having to go to a physio with a special credential in spinal rehab.  Now I'm ready to get back to daily training.

I have been diligent about fitness for years. Still, I haven't been able to fully shed those love handle fat deposits and the same on my lower abs. I tried Cool Sculpting once and another fat freezing procedure a couple years later to try to battle back my lower stomach. They were a complete joke, and I saw no visual or measurable benefits. I don't suggest anyone waste their money on those treatments.

I currently have a very low body fat percentage (less than 10%), and even so those areas still stubbornly remain less desirable than I would like for the amount if efforts I have made in diet and exercise. I am considering some sort of liposculpture in those areas, but need to do more research. The best results I have gotten for diminishing fat are diet, of course, and steady state, low intensity cardio - walking, for instance.

I always carry fat at the waist and lower back.  If I get my bodyfat low enough it disappears completely, but we're talking maybe 5% bodyfat.   You have to be lean enough so that  if  you pull up a skinfold at the waist -it is almost nothing but skin.   If you pull up a skinfold on your bicep, you can see light through it.   45 minutes of fasted cardio every morning and carb cycling will do it.  Tough for anyone to sustain though.

Is there any way for you to access a swimming pool?

Water does amazing things.    I had a massive DVT several years ago and the swelling in the leg persisted for months afterward. I had to wear sweat pants all the time because the huge leg wouldn't fit into normal pants. I went swimming in the Yuba River and when I got out of the water, the leg was much less swollen.  I started swimming regularly, and the swelling disappeared rapidly.  The leg is still a little larger than normal, but you have to be looking for it to notice it.

I had a multi-level lumbar fusion and the single most useful activity in my rehab was pool walking.

Intense pulsed light is an effective, low-risk procedure:

Gee, what about good ol' daily cardio, weight training, and healthy eating?

Great suggestion! That's something we must always do!

Any thought or feedback on which medical and/or cosmetic procedures are actually worth it?

I'm coming off of 18 months of not doing much during COVID and feeling kind of down about my appearance.  I have a ton of cash saved and some bonuses coming between now and March.  I will spend some on boys, but thinking I should consider spending some on myself, literally.

I've been a 5 year user of Botox and love it.  This Mo will gettin' back his Bo next month.

I'm curious about Sculpsure and liposuction to help me shed some of the COVID 19, pounds that is.

Anything else you guys would recommend? Other facial procedures?  Weight/fat loss help?

Your choice!

If you like Botox and you think you need more, go ahead do it!

Having love handles removed or diminished like @Pensant had is also a great idea and it lasts for a long time. I know an escort who had just a couple of pounds of fat removed from his waste in 2008 and his body still has a nice V shape.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get this done in NYC?  I have some face acne scars from my teen years that I wouldn’t mind getting rid of.

Depending on how deep that scarring is, IPL would take many treatments.

Look into BBL or go with something more invasive, but effective, like Halo laser or CO2 laser treatments.

As for NYC derms/plastics to see, there are a ton of qualified people out there. Do NOT go to a 'med spa' for this kind of procedure.  It's a truly dumb idea.

Research on RealSelf (app and website) to figure out who's the best doc for you to consult with.

I've had injection and laser work done in Seoul, yes.

There's no better place in the world for reasonable prices and very good doctors.

Koreans have a lock on great skincare science and a society that embraces self-care.

I am thinking to get a Facial Contouring Surgery in Seoul. Some clinics are kind of expensive, with the influx of foreigners going their for surgeries probably thats why.

Well I am still in my research phase but I definitly wanna go there for the surgery.
