The ever-available escort...

Just curious, not trying to player-hate on anyone’s game. But this is a Question for clients and providers alike.

 

I don’t often cruise ads of other providers, but I do log onto RentMen nearly daily to check my messages/pics/updates. One thing I notice, it’s often a select few guys who are always “available now”. Whether they actually are available or not is one thing, but to me I wonder if there’s any real benefit to doing so. Or even more so, slightly suspicious looking.

I personally only occasionally post “available now”. In reality, I’m rarely ever available now, and even if I am: it’s not how I prefer to arrange appointments. Not to mention, many guys looking in the moment don’t want to wait or expect unrealistic arrival times. How much luck of a draw is it, to think one can text/call a masseur/escort out the blue with no advanced planning, and expect them to arrive/be able to host in 20-30 minutes? Can one actually expect to get a provider who’s in their best, out of that? 
 

So idk, it makes me wonder. I may post available now, but I still require a 1 to 2 hour minimum notice. I wish RentMen would have it as “available today” versus “available now”, to avoid any unrealistic expectations. Not to mention the most obvious thing: I hardly get any texts or calls looking to meet now; when I post available now, anyway. So it’s really pointless to do so most days. 

So it makes me wonder why certain guys are always “available now” round the clock, to begin with.

Well it’s also weird to me , because when I switch to not available I tend to get more calls (rentmen) than if I switch to available. But I also have a cut off point to me accepting clients at a certain time (mainly late at night). I had my ad not available for 3 days ( just to get my focus back etc) and one client told me that I always have mine unavailable so I think some clients do look for your availability I also sometimes turn my massage ad off sometimes to give my wrists a break I sometimes go by this “absence makes the heart grow fonder “

I’m never ‘available now’. For one thing I have other work to do so I’m not just hanging around on the off chance someone will call. Plus those kind of “I’m horny now” clients aren’t the sort I want. Ok spontaneous liaisons can be great but not in a provider / client context, not for me anyway.
 

I prefer clients who have thought carefully about visiting me and made a decision with more than their dick. A last minute decision to use my services to unload isn’t likely to be an uplifting and meaningful experience so that’s not the type of booking I take.

As a client I basically ignore “available now”. It certainly doesn’t mean what it says in 99% of the cases. I’ve messaged “available now” advertisers and not gotten replies for up to 48 hours. Whether it adds a “pop” to an ad or not - IDK but it’s useless to me.

I pay no attention to that. This guy in Buffalo always has available now on his ad. He hasn't even logged on since April 20 as of this posting.

Wow. That’s odd considering one must log on in order to be available, unless one is doing so via the RentMen chat app (which I appreciate them for doing for the very shy guys, but I don’t conduct biz thru it and simply have an auto-reply on).

Good word 👏🏽 I especially emphasize the part when you say “waiting around on the off chance”. 
 

I understand and can even appreciate guys seeing my ad and wanting to meet right away. But I really don’t like being “assumed” that I’m available just out the blue. I know gay sex has happened like that for millions of years before the advent of cell phones, but it doesn’t mean that it needs to stay that way.

Fortunately, as I’m getting “older” (older as in mid 30s versus early 20s) I’m finding clients are more willing to schedule ahead, but that also makes me expect less that I “have to” do last minute visits. At the same time...I’ve met a lot of great clients who just happened to want to meet the same day, and not always with a whole lot of notice. Which is okay.

Lol, at my early hiring days (which is kinda funny since I really just started 1.5 years ago), I had one experience where I did look at 'available now' coz the guy I had planned to have a session with just decided not to see me (it's all good, we're friends now), so then I was checking my plans B, C, and D in that order to see if one was available - couldn't waste a properly cleaned hole for the night...haha.

I guess now I am lucky enough to have some of them reach out a few weeks in advance to let me know when they're going to be in town so I can get those sessions scheduled in advance. And good thing for the existence of thrusting and vibrating dildos and the Pulse for the instances where I turn into those "I'm horny now" thirsty dudes. And yea, not into 'available now' either nowadays coz God knows how long it takes to friggin' prepare down there.

And that’s an issue too! I’m almost always top and it seems almost all of my clients are bottom which isn’t surprising given I’m hung. However occasionally a client will want to top me, which is fine (I’m versatile) but I wish they’d say in advance so I can prepare. I just assume they’re bottom so I never prepare myself (not thoroughly anyway). Nothing’s happening that way if I’m not prepared.

This is actually 100 percent true and has also happened to me. I have also had escorts I planned with for weeks cancel on me last minute and then I'm left horny and still wanting to meet up with someone. This is especially true when I'm traveling. Last I was in LA right before the pandemic I had a guy text me right after douching that he had come down with food poisoning. So you better believe I went on Rent.men and used Available Now to find someone to hang with. And I did and it was great.

But yeah normally I do plan ahead of time for my meetings. I do think it is helpful to have someone available for those spur-of-the moment hook ups too.

I put available now if I’m not doing anything at all in that moment. I’ve noticed too that if I don’t put I’m available I get more calls. It honestly just depends on the day for me.

I don't pay attention to "Available Now" because my preference is to book a day or so ahead of time. Doing so allows both the escort and me to block the time, me to prepare for bottoming, and both of us to have a relaxed session. Besides, to me "available now" doesn't mean "right this instant." Instead, I interpret it as "I have availability to meet a client sometime in the next few hours." A client who demands to meet immediately because your ad says "available now" will probably have other unreasonable demands.

If I'm looking for something in the next few hours, I will generally look for someone who indicates they are available now.  If I'm looking to schedule in advance, I don't care, but I can see why it would increase the contacts.  Sometimes, it is hard for me to predict my availability in advance.

That’s understandable...

One reason (of many) I’m not into Grindr marketing is because it caters to the “right now” brigade. Even when I’m on there for my personal time, I feel it’s often now or never. And likewise, sometimes I need now instead of never lol. But that kind of booking often leads to flaked or rushed appointments. 
 

I been meaning to block someone who contacted me couple weeks ago: he stated he was in a hotel in South Kansas City, and even asked if it would be too far for me. Technically it wasn’t, but it was like 10:30 p.m. I had gotten comfortable and needed like an hour. Then he says it would be too late because he would be sleep.

What the fuck did he expect? Me to be over in 10 minutes? Very rude and disrespectful. But it doesn’t surprise me considering majority of the inquiries out of Kansas City are trash anyway. Idk if it’s because it’s a crossroads City or the overall vibe or what. But I’ve already seen many providers here don’t last or often go elsewhere.

Interesting question as I did ask one of the guy I met about it. 
 

So I met this guy that appeared all the time “Available” and I told him that I selected him for that but it was such a pain to finally meet although he always shows up as available.

He told me that being online or available allows him to get more messages from clients, and that most clients like to schedule anyway. 
 

I find it a bit unreliable but I can understand his raisonning.

I personally never booked anyone without chatting with them first and thinking about it for a couple of days or weeks and then I schedule.

As a client, I like to schedule a day or two in advance most times.  However, I have encountered guys who prefer only same day appointments.  Ironically, those guys seem to never have "available now" turned on.

There are impulsive transactions and planned encounters. I’m not the only one here who remembers when SW ads were only in low-circulation print with poor if any images. For the youngsters reading, there was no internet and no mobile phones. Research was impossible. So if you needed that professional touch, and were “out” there might be a referral from a discreet friend, but closeted men were checking the small ads or picking up someone at a bar or on the Boulevard, very risky, that… 

Forethought helped, if only for the two days of volleys with landline answering machines. And ATMs were not everywhere…

AvailableNow is a tool for providers, and the site, less for clients. Providers use it to bump their ad upward and is pretty basic marketing (Operators Standing By!!) They tease us with their phantom presence.

Similar to the other thread about 1 strike and our clients (and I believe I’ve gone ahead and blocked this one), this person contacted me at a later hour and expected immediate service, then wasn’t willing to give me an hour to get to him. Not to mention, he was in a suburb of Kansas City outside of the main metro. Maybe he got flaked on by another provider, which is why the call came last minute. But he also claimed to “possibly” be able to book me the next day, which never happened.
